My partner @jasoncapsaicin.bsky.social made a step by step guide on how to break up ice in your neighborhood in Minnesota. Enjoy!

“I support abolishing this version of ICE” is very easy to say and can precede a call for a reformed agency that handles immigration enforcement with more grace.

I know a decent amount of good local journos and I would looove to hear them report a story of why all the major corporations and their CEOs are absolutely silent about the occupation of minnesota.

Everyone in Minneapolis and St Paul should wear a hijab when they're in public. Make it harder for them.

everyone should see this. it's repression, occupation. (doesn't even make the home page of the paper of record ffs)
Today at 34 & Park in Minneapolis, a woman tried to drive down the street where a protest had broken out in front of a home ICE was raiding, saying she had a doctor apt to get to. ICE agents busted out her windows, cut off her seatbelt, and pulled her out before arresting her.

And honestly, I think in general this attack on my city shows a total lack of understanding the basic character of Minnesotans, underestimating our tenacity, stubbornness, resilience, communality, and absolute willingness to volunteer for shit and show up. The revolution has a Sign-Up Genius.
I'm at a coffee shop at the moment with a bunch of writer buds, and we just observed a large convoy of ICE vehicles pursued by a much larger convoy of volunteer observers honking their horns with wild abandon. If there's one thing Minnesotans do, it's show up for shit.

A teenage boy was walking home in Minneapolis yesterday when four masked men jumped out of a van & questioned him - with no parent or guardian present.

He was bundled into the van & taken away.

Bystanders heard the boy say: “Can I just go home?”

I don’t know how America comes back from all this.

This is a betrayal to so many. It is also a consequence of Congressional failure to pass comprehensive immigration reform, leaving immigration policy to be done by executive order the past two decades.

Yes, that’s the idea.
ICE agents are living in fear as the public turns against them in record numbers after one of their colleagues shot a mom dead in the street.

That Target hasn’t come out and publicly stated their employees should be safe and off limits without a warrant is significantly worse than anything anyone is boycotting them about.
ICE kidnap 17-year-old U.S. citizen working at Target then dump him bleeding and crying miles away in a Walmart parking lot… 🤬

This is true, but I need people to understand it’s not just Minneapolis. It’s the entire metro, which is significantly larger.
What ICE/BP is doing to Minneapolis is awful.

And it's taking everything they have. By population, Minneapolis is America's 45th largest city.

Keep both in mind at once: the regime's desire for authoritarian domination is bottomless, and they'll act on it, but their capacity to do so is limited.

So many people are so angry about this, and even as ICE becomes more violent and confrontational, even more and more regular people are joining into the effort to protect their neighbors. It’s inspiring.
Map shows reports of ICE activity in and around the Twin Cities on Sunday alone. Los Angeles and New York shown for comparison.

This particular resource may be less utilized in other cities, but it’s clear that Minnesotans are not afraid to continue documenting the actions of these thugs.

ICE totaled this car, abducted a woman, and then left it in the middle of Snelling Avenue, one of the busiest streets in the Twin Cities.

This isn’t law and order, this state sanctioned terrorism. It’s fucking disgusting.

Someone is going to get hurt out there
ICE officers slipping on ice while trying to terrorize communities is the most accurate metaphor imaginable. No balance. No footing. No moral ground. Just cruelty, incompetence, and gravity doing its thing.
