I miss being in a city for stuff like this. Fells and fields good. Not having opportunities like this on your doorstep… less good.
How do you feel about immigration?

Recent YouGov polling found that 52% of voters believe immigration to be the most important issue facing the UK.

@globaldevinst.bsky.social are holding a public discussion on immigration at John Rylands Library, this Friday.

Obviously, it’s been a tough day for the BBC. Big organisations, working under big pressure, will sadly make errors

But I still feel huge pride in hosting a BBC podcast, and having previously spent 11 years making a world-renowned children’s show that no other broadcaster would have made

This book looks terrific and the fact it’s open access is amazing! One of the strongest misconceptions children bring to the history classroom is that ‘women were just at home.’ Can’t wait to read this! 👏👏👏
Many congratulations to my colleagues in the Forms of Labour project team on the publication of their new monograph! 🗃️👏🎉

Just to say that teachers do an incredibly difficult job, with all the right intentions, and can be the defining influence on a young person's life. They are the exact opposite of poisoners because good teaching provides the antidote to so many dangers

Right wing media has had it in for Angela Rayner from the start - they couldn’t bear a working class woman being so powerful & dynamic. She made a mistake and has paid heavily for it. Very much hope she’ll return at some point in the future - our politics desperately needs more voices like hers

What a great #haconf25… inspired by @msquinnhistory.bsky.social on Irish history, @mrbajkowski.bsky.social on assessment and barnstorming keynote from Diarmaid MacCulloch… loved presenting and thank you to my little group for all the enthusiasm for criminal women at GCSE!

Seeing a lot of train tweets from folk off to #HAConf25! Sad to miss tomorrow but all for the good reason of orchestrating leavers’ day for a fab bunch of Y13. See you on Saturday for some misbehaving GCSE women…

I have an idea!
For politicians!
The trouble with education is that it’s investing in the future and the pay-off comes after the next election so you don’t benefit.
(I think you should do it anyway, but I don’t need votes to keep my job).

Today I got to introduce a favourite topic- the Puritans! We all chose a Puritan name for our imaginary 16th century ancestor and then made notes on why they were so stressed about church ales. I had fun. Less sure about Year 10…
