There’s no one like Pullman for making you want to live in the world he creates (even when it’s full of danger and terror…) On a cold crappy dark night like this one, I want to be having some of Malcolm’s mum’s roast beef at The Trout.

I was literally making a display based on that article yesterday! A classic!

Brilliant stuff! I wasn’t meaning to nit pick at all and hope it didn’t come across that way- great that this work is getting wider attention. It’s just bonkers that it’s taken so long and that in 2025 many history lessons are no better representation of women than they were when I was at school!

It’s great if there’s some more awareness of this. (I’d take slight issue with the ‘new’ research- history teachers have been writing about this and crafting solutions in the pages of Teaching History for literally decades!)

At the @histassoc.bsky.social conference this was a recurring theme of the workshops. There is so much work going on at the grassroots to tell the truth about the past and tackle misogyny but we desperately need change from the top too. @beckyfrancis.bsky.social!

I’ll take a look in work tomorrow. The gaps in the online papers are very frustrating!!

She’s such a good example of how women could exercise power in the constraints of the time. Yeah though, the childbirth makes all my kids a bit queasy!!

This is such a good read. The trope of the princess finding her prince so *now her life is over* is beyond depressing. Let alone the ‘haha, not so feminist now huh now that a MAN wants you’ reaction from some quarters 🤢

Sounds great and something I am working on this year! What are your main strategies to suggest to staff if you don’t mind me asking?

Would have loved to have been at this! Embarking on a new A Level this year - first time teaching the breadth rather than depth study- and know I need to be more mindful about the stories I tell.
