The Penzance Litfest programme is out! Last year my workshop sold out very quickly and so did the one I wanted to go to - I missed my chance then, so this time I've straight away looked and booked! You snooze, you lose

Unbelievable. Donald Trump has been invited to a state visit to the UK. We should not be rolling out the red carpet to celebrate this man. Agree? Add your name to the petition today: you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/no...
No second state visit for Trump
Unbelievable. Keir Starmer has handed Donald Trump a letter from King Charles, inviting him for a second state visit to the UK. It’s totally unprecedented, and should not go ahead.  This is the...

Yes, yes. The joy of writing, it makes life bigger!
Unsolicited writing advice, no. #1006:
Much of a writer’s creative time is spent away from the desk and screen. Nourish your creativity by consciously experiencing life: by talking to people; asking questions; recording dreams; by noticing sounds, scents, scenes, sensations.

I love writing retreats but I never try to write anything! I'm there for the writers, the lovely creative atmosphere, but perfectly happy to enjoy the local area in the daytime when other people are at their desks
In case this helps anyone feel better, I went on a writing retreat once and found it ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE to write. I felt trapped and constantly guilty for not writing, and aware everyone else as beavering away. It was like being in an exam when everyone's scribbling and you're not.

Big yes to this
It was so much fun helping @oxfordchildrens.bsky.social announce the Oxford Children’s Word of the year at an assembly in Banbury today - and what an amazing word it was too.

I think we need to take inspiration from the kids and all have a bit more kindness in our lives.

Yes yes yes - Frank Cottrell Boyce doing a great job for children and children's reading
Yes yes! Huge applause for @frankcottrellboyce.bsky.social and @booktrust.bsky.social for being brilliant! Let’s all get the message out. We can read with our kids and support libraries that give everyone access to books. It makes so much difference to children’s lives and their futures
"It's easy to get depressed about the situation, but there's a huge amount of happiness and optimism to be drawn on."

Here's another super #ReadingRights interview with @frankcottrellboyce.bsky.social 👇

Please do keep sharing and telling people! Some beautiful work so far but numbers are much smaller than in 2022. #carers #writingcommunity 💙📚
In 2022 I launched a new literary prize for writer-carers (UK & ROI), the #Curae award. A wealth of wonderful prizes from across industry, publication and many entries. The second prize opened 1/02/25 and so far we have far fewer entries. There are around 7million unpaid carers: industry PLEASE help

Thank you #PLR and thank you to all the librarians out there - especially in the children’s section. What you’re doing is incredibly important in this time where money is tight for so many families. To be able to find books and read widely is crucial for children. #SupportLibraries

I'd like to thank anyone who ordered one of my books from their library too - I'm sure that's helped my PLR from self-published books to start catching up with my trad published ones this year
A huge THANK YOU to librarians and library users for supporting my books this year. Writing is a tough way to make a living so the fact that we have the PLR, paying authors for every book borrowed, is a wonderful thing! 🙏📚🩷 #lovelibraries
