Goodness Scottish history is pretty poorly served by podcasts/ audio books/ radio.
This is obviously not a surprise really.

I think that the Royal Mile, Princes Street, Rose Street and George Street should all be pedestrian with caveats about deliveries/ buses.
We have an actual bus station - use it!
I work in George St and I think these plans often forget the number of people who live and work in the centre.

I still think a Muppet Pride and Prejudice would be brilliant.
Human Darcy and Elizabeth everyone else is a Muppet except for maybe Mr Collins.
With the same attention to costume as A Christmas Carol..

Reading social media accounts about visiting Edinburgh with increasing amounts of bafflement
And the comments even more so!
What is this city they are talking about?
Also who are all these apparently healthy people who can't walk the length of the royal mile?

OTD in 1592, Lady Margaret Campbell brought her son the 2nd Earl of Moray to Edinburgh intending to display his body and force the king to bring his killers to justice.
Ye Hielands and ye Lowlands,
O, whaur hae ye been?
They hae slain the Earl o’ Moray,
And laid him on the green.

I am not even an academic and my favourite is medieval underwear.
I get asked about this at every talk I do.
It's not a stupid question I just find it fascinating that's where people go.
The greatest joy in my life as an academic is being asked this type of question
the greatest joy in my life is asking overly qualified academics really dumb questions about the field of study they have devoted their lives to (i.e. did medieval people smoke weed?)

Robert the Bruce's doctor worried about his eel habit, fearing it would kill the king. But only one Scottish king's death is actually tied to the fish: Alexander III, who was eating fresh eel (murena recenti) just before he died.

Were the eels to blame? 1/4
