Yes those were great.

That said the recent Gone Medieval podcast on James II was good.

Goodness Scottish history is pretty poorly served by podcasts/ audio books/ radio.
This is obviously not a surprise really.

Mind you if he really doesn't then maybe that's why he thinks working from home is a scam since he would be just sitting at home with a hip flask staring at walls since he is presumably unable to also work the internet and I doubt he is a big reader.

I was very shocked when I discovered he was only 61. So the 'doesnt do computers' is nonsense.
February 10, 2026 at 6:58 PM
You could probably show him a computer and he'd flee in terror.

Other cities manage to have a pedestrian centre.
February 10, 2026 at 3:33 PM
I think that the Royal Mile, Princes Street, Rose Street and George Street should all be pedestrian with caveats about deliveries/ buses.
We have an actual bus station - use it!
I work in George St and I think these plans often forget the number of people who live and work in the centre.

Yes it's a shame about the sleeper it used to be a good way of getting down or back without it being stupid money.

The bells of @stmaryscathedin.bsky.social have added their delightful music to the urban soundscape of Edinburgh for almost 150 years. Now they need a once in generation repair to keep them ringing for years to come. 🔔

Can you help with the costs 👇

The National Museum also has one of the best views of the city from it's roof terrace.

I know but think how brilliant Miss Piggy would be as Mrs Bennett and Kermit would be an outstanding Mr Bennett
February 8, 2026 at 7:03 PM
I still think a Muppet Pride and Prejudice would be brilliant.
Human Darcy and Elizabeth everyone else is a Muppet except for maybe Mr Collins.
With the same attention to costume as A Christmas Carol..
February 8, 2026 at 6:33 PM
Ah yes I can see that. Even I as a local do check a map quite frequently.
February 8, 2026 at 6:08 PM
There's lots more.
February 8, 2026 at 6:06 PM
I mean I expect I have fallen prey to the same thing in other cities but it does feel particularly weird in Edinburgh where visitors end up in a really small bit of the city and unaware of Leith, the New Town etc or that Edinburgh has a beach.
February 8, 2026 at 5:27 PM
Reading social media accounts about visiting Edinburgh with increasing amounts of bafflement
And the comments even more so!
What is this city they are talking about?
Also who are all these apparently healthy people who can't walk the length of the royal mile?

The ballad the Bonnie Earl of Moray is also the origin of the expression Mondegreen for misheard song lyrics. The American writer Sylvia Wright coined the term in 1954, recalling a childhood memory where she heard the words "laid him on the green" as "Lady Mondegreen".
