It's been rather busy at work this week so I shall be catching up with some #bookbinding this weekend. Especially as I've got a commission of 3 sketchbooks to get on with!

The best Vinted purchase? I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw someone selling bundles of #bookbinding bookcloth & at good prices.
I couldn't justify buying all 3, but I got the biggest quantity & one of scraps.

Can't wait to try the textured ones!

Just a 1399 unicorn watermark from a paper manufacturer from Valencia to make your day. Friends of #paperhistory know that these paper sheets of around 1400 are among the first sheets of European paper to appear on the market. European #bookhistory was a different game afterwards. #skystorians

Henry VIII’s own copy of the Bishop’s Book of 1537, complete with his annotations. On display in @bodleian.ox.ac.uk Treasured exhibition. It’s fascinating to see his mind at work in this way #henryviii #treasured #tudor #tudors

These photos show some of the process of rebinding a #facsimile to give it a cover that suits the period of the original text. In this case, an early C16th copy of The Abbaye of the Holy Ghost.
All part of the services I provide!

A few pics of the event I did at Arkenstall Village Centre in Haddenham, Cambs. on Saturday 11th.
A friend organised this fundraiser, & it was so much fun. Lots of lovely visitors to talk to, & I was able to make progress on some projects.

A special #book for the person who gifted me items made by their sister & gold foil from their father. I used some to create a keepsake to treasure. As an artist themselves, a sketchbook seemed fitting.
I tried new techniques with this: foiling, coptic binding & adding ribbon.
