Are Scots the most indoor folk in Europe? Daytrippers. Next to no family weekend huts. Priced out of overnight stays. Lost family links to the land. Why no outrage? Chuffed to be at Blether of Books Nov 2 Robert Burns Birthplace Museum, Alloway.

A couple of new hills for me today. Ones I can see from home and yet had never climbed - Millstone Cairn and Creag nan Leachda....plus a climb up Creag Loisgte. No real plan, just wandering about and walking wherever looked interesting 🙂

Good news for rail users in Scotland, from tomorrow, the Scottish Government has scrapped peak rail fares. Every little helps.

A fantastic time last weekend with Red Rope pals, based in Elphin. Love this part of Scotland - and it was looking particularly lovely with the bonnie blooming heather.

Any chance we could stop indulging in the not necessary and focus our energy on issues that matter to people in Scotland?

I was looking at the fountain a couple of weeks ago and it's in a bad state again - couple of heads missing from the smaller figures around the bottom, and flaking of the stone at the base. Definitely needs some attention before winter.

Really enjoyed a walk at Loch Leven yesterday, used to visit daily when I worked in Milnathort for @ramblersscotland.bsky.social. It was busy with walkers & cyclists, hard to imagine the path hasn’t always been there. Testament to the hard work of the local path group, landowners, funders.

I met Cleo Laine on a couple of occasions when her daughter, Jacqui Dankworth, was at the Guildhall at the same time as my sister. Calling Cleo a force of nature doesn’t quite cut it; she was phenomenal. And she could sing anything you put in front of her!

Very unsatisfactory article: apparently we don’t need to panic about sea level rise, UN Sec Generally and others are fear mongering about climate migration.

Maybe true, but maps and figures are needed to support the argument.

Peter Krykant kept the lives being lost to drugs in the public eye & shamed the Scottish gov into action. His van prevented overdoses & and continues to so as, without it, The Thistle wouldn’t exist. It was a privilege to know him. I hope he’s at peace. www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/peter-k...
Peter Krykant dies suddenly as tributes paid to pioneering Scots drugs reformer
Krykant, who battled addiction issues, was found dead at home in Falkirk. He inspired many to regard addiction as a health issue and paved the way for state-backed safe drug consumption areas
