Any chance we could stop indulging in the not necessary and focus our energy on issues that matter to people in Scotland?

When did we become a country that refuses to hear, or read, or discuss different views? Was that not the essence of the Enlightenment from which we and very many others worldwide gained so much?

The immigration white paper misjudges the public’s priorities - UK in a changing Europe
Heather Rolfe analyses public opinion on the UK government's white paper on immigration. She argues that while much of the public is in favour of reducing migration, the content and language of the wh...

👇. Absolutely
Starmer's speech today was shameful from a Labour government: pandering, dishonest and inflammatory.

To say "the damage this has done to our country is incalculable" is language no politician should use about migrants who have come to the UK and contributed to our economy and society.

What more do we need to know Scotland needs to be able to determine our own immigration policy?
“..an island of strangers” - Starmer. What utter shameful nonsense. Playing the right wing dog whistle has to be a new low from @teamlabouruk.bsky.social.

So this morning a political podcast was rec and I’m sure it’ll be worth listening to. But it struck me - the majority of pol podcasts are all male and all are Westminster centric. Scot cast and Welsh cast exempt. What an internal gazing thing they are when we have 4 nations.

Angels Raynor on BBC news justifying Ministers taking freebies as ok cos it’s ’in the rules’. Utterly tone deaf just like the Tories were.

One family of 6 from Gaza make it through the tortuous UK system designed to prevent entry alongside the boastful filming and promotion of hounding folk onto planes - I expect the Tories to play to xenophobia but Labour? Shameful ditching of values many, many fought for and died for.

These are dangerous times. The casual bargaining over another country’s sovereignty be it Gaza, Ukraine or Greenland, apparently unchallenged by senior politicians or the media is deeply troubling. We can’t normalise this. We just can’t.

WASPI women betrayed, 2child cap retained and now the few pensioners who are still eligible for winter fuel payment face delays. What is Labour’s problem with older people and women? Oh, and keeping promises captured forever in those pesky photo opps….

Alongside broken promises on the 2 child cap, Labour turns its back on WASPI women now the photo ops aren’t needed. In both sets of broken promises, women suffer. They should be utterly ashamed.

@vicderbyshire.bsky.social speaks to Jeremy Clarkson at the farmers’ protest in Westminster where thousands of farmers are protesting the government’s inheritance tax plans.
