There are 6,000 children trapped in illegal schools in England – many hidden behind claims of ‘part-time’ education. In reality, they’re confined to cramped rooms, forced to study scripture for hours each day. Donate today to stop this.

It feels deeply unfair, but at the same time, we want government to be free from the taint of corruption, so it's the right course.

I do, however, feel very sorry for Rayner.

NOW let's watch the press hold other politicians to these standards.
NEW: Here is the full verdict from the PM’s ethics advisor.

- Rayner acted with “integrity”, but..

- She did not seek *expert* tax advice

- As such she must take responsibility for failing to pay enough stamp duty

- She therefore fell short of standards and broke ministerial code

Collective worship is not education. It's religious observance.

Yet in Scotland (and across the UK), state schools are legally required to lead pupils in acts of worship. So many parents are totally unaware. New report by @humanistsociety.bsky.social goes in-depth 👇

Cracking holiday read. A catholic priest has a terrible secret. He doesn’t believe in God. A very pleasing book from beginning to its satisfying end. Quite a few laugh out loud moments. #BookSky

Books just find me. Last week I read an interview with Marianne Brown & that’s how I ended up spending snatched moments reading ‘The Shetland Way’.

Today, I will mostly be reading Agnes’s Callard’s book - The Case for a Philosophical Life.
