Today, on Remembrance Sunday, we honour all those who lost their lives in conflict — and reflect on our shared hope for peace.

Across Scotland, Humanist Society Scotland members, supporters, and Celebrants are laying wreaths to remember those who died with compassion and gratitude.

We seem to have broken a record at today's #FestivalOfHumanism in Glasgow - the youngest-ever attendee! Baby Bram here came along for a while with mum Sas and dad Greg to soak up the (excellent vibes). We look forward to processing his membership form in a few years!

“Where there’s inequality and division, there’s work to be done." 💛

At today’s Festival of Humanism in Glasgow, we’re celebrating hope, positivity and humanist values in action, but also recognising the challenges we face.

Our 2025 #FestivalofHumanism is here! Our first speakers were Jordan Daly (first image), a Co-Founder and Director of LGBTQ+ charity Time for Inclusive Education (TIE) and Brian Dempsey (second image) who was involved in lobbying and supporting the Scottish Parliament in repealing Section 28 🙌

There's still time to write to your MSP and tell them that you think kids in Scotland deserve an independent right to opt out of religious worship in schools. After all, preaching is not teaching.

You can find the letter template here: humanist.eaction.org.uk/religious-ob...

We’re delighted to confirm the line-up for our 2026 Holyrood Election Hustings.

As part of our Festival of Humanism in Glasgow this Saturday, you can quiz MSP candidates on what they would do to make Scotland a more secular, rational and socially just country.

If a chat about life's end over coffee and cake doesn't sound like your cup of tea, hopefully Lara will convince you otherwise. This Sunday, at Garnethill Multicultural Centre in Glasgow from 1-3pm, you can learn about Death Cafes: Putting the tea into mortality!

In a recent podcast appearance, Elon Musk claimed asylum seekers are showing up in their thousands to tiny towns and villages, specifically to abuse children, saying:

“These lovely small towns in England, Scotland and Ireland, they’ve been living their lives quietly. They’re like hobbits, frankly."

People who have died remain a part of our lives – their stories are our stories.

To Absent Friends, a People’s Festival of Storytelling and Remembrance is an opportunity to revive lost traditions and create new ones.

We’ve launched a new report! 📝

Our climate is changing - drier summers and wetter winters challenge farmers like never before. ‘Farming for the Future’ shows how advice, training and knowledge-sharing can help Scottish agriculture thrive whilst protecting nature. 🍃

Today is World Right to Die Day, a moment to reflect on compassion, dignity, and choice.

At Humanist Society Scotland, we believe everyone should have the right to make their own decisions about death, just as we do about life.

To anyone still insisting that far-right, flag-waving nationalism hasn’t reached Scotland — you’re wrong.

Stand Up To Racism Scotland have documented disturbing rallies like this one in Falkirk, where anti-asylum protesters reportedly hurled misogynistic abuse at women counter-protesters.

Happy Halloween from the darkly romantic side of love! 🖤💍

We’re obsessed with Vanessa & Lewis’s gloriously gothic humanist wedding — beautifully officiated by HSS celebrant Lindsey Mason Ross and captured by Kirstin McEwan Photography.

Young people in Scotland can choose to opt in to religious worship… but they don't have the independent right to opt out.

That’s not fair, and it doesn't respect their right to freedom of belief.

Tell your MSPs it’s time to change the law. 💬

We 'woke lefties' have had a rebrand! 😆 It seems we've gone from being easily-offended snowflakes to a genuine threat to the extreme-right's cruel agenda. Well done, everyone.

Scotland is one of the few countries in the world where humanist marriages are legally recognised, thanks to years of campaigning by Humanist Society Scotland members.

But a lack of regulation of their own marriage law by government agencies has allowed individuals to pose as “humanist” celebrants
