It's increasingly clear that Mark Carney lives rent-free in Scott Bessent's head.

A mixed fleet of F-35s and Gripens is probably the best move for Canada. The Gripens are essentially perfect home-defense fighters. The F-35s are sublime offensive strike fighters. nationalpost.com/opinion/john...
John Ivison: Sources say Ottawa considering Swedish jets over F-35s for half of fleet
All the signs point to Ottawa buying fewer than half the number of F-35s it said it would and Carney's speech in Davos explains why.

Bovino getting the boot would be appropriate, but the policy decisions around immigration are ultimately driven by Stephen Miller, and by extension, Trump. So long as Miller remains Trump's brain, we'll continue to see horrifying situations like this.

Initial report is that two observers got into a shoving match with eight agents, one observer was wrestled to the ground, and then an ICE agent pulled out a sidearm and shot the man on the ground five times.

I saw the video. They dogpile the guy to the ground and then a couple of them just dump full clips into the prone, defenseless person. Not just a murder, but an execution.
There’s video now. Worst thing I’ve ever seen. The entire ICE contingent needs to be arrested

At this point, Bessent's remarks should be grounds for Carney to summon the American ambassador and demand an explanation for why senior US officials are openly supporting and funding an attempt to break off and annex parts of Canada. This is just like Russia in the Donbas.

-laughs nervously in Ukrainian-

So er, I don't want to be alarmist my Canadian friends but it's not a GREAT sign when the superpower next door starts talking about how the people of a resource rich region of yours yearn for the freedom to join them and suggesting referendums...
Bessent pushes Albertan independence from Canada: "Albertans are very independent people. There's a rumor they may have a referendum on whether they want to stay in Canada or not. People are talking. People want sovereignty. They want what the US has got."
January 23, 2026 at 4:27 PM
So this is the United States explicitly attempting to break up Canada.

Sounds like the answer to that is kicking Hungary out of the EU and NATO. If Orbán wants Hungary to be a constituent republic of the Russian Federation, give him his wish.
Orbán claims no Hungarian parliament will vote for Ukraine's EU membership "for the next 100 years."

I'm sure Carney is real sad that he doesn't get to pay Trump a billion dollars for the privilege of hanging out with Lukashenko, Orbán and a handful of Central Asian dictators.
Carney put crybaby Donnie in his feels.

Immigration officers assert sweeping power to enter homes without a judge's warrant, memo says
An Immigration and Customs Enforcement memo obtained by The Associated Press reveals that the agency allows immigration officers to forcibly enter homes to make arrests without a judicial warrant.

He sounds like a UAW guy from 1994. What happened with all those Asian cars is that the Japanese automakers built plants here. Now we make Hondas in Alliston and Toyotas in Ingersoll.

"Trump adopts the positions of the last person he talks to" theory remains undefeated, by the way. He gets out of his circle of advisors and Rutte immediately talks him down and convinces him he can get what he wants by offering him what he already has.
January 21, 2026 at 8:39 PM
So it sounds like the United States gets what it's had all along, but dolled up in such a way that Trump gets to do a victory lap somehow. Rutte is surprisingly decent at kissing Trump's hindquarters.
Trump: "Based upon a very productive meeting I had with Mark Rutte, we have formed the framework of a future deal with respect to Greenland and, in fact, the entire Arctic Region. This solution, if consummated, will be a great one... Based upon this understanding, I will not be imposing the Tariffs"
January 21, 2026 at 8:34 PM
If any other president said that, they'd be impeached within the day. Imagine the furor on FOX if Obama said it.
Trump: "Sometimes you need a dictator."
January 21, 2026 at 7:11 PM
Contrast Trump's meandering, unfocused screed with Carney's cohesive and tightly-structured remarks yesterday. Hell, contrast with 2016 Trump. The man's unfitness could not be more clear. This is someone who is not simply unqualified to be President, but who is not of sound mind anymore.
The choice is impeachment and removal or calamity for the United States. I don't see how anybody watching Trump's speech in Davos can draw any other conclusion. He's a senile madman.
January 21, 2026 at 3:19 PM
Remember the furor when Democratic staffers kept propping up a cognitively-declining Dianne Feinstein in the Senate? That's how I'm starting to feel about Trump. It's like his advisors have taken a dementia-stricken man and given him absolute power.
January 21, 2026 at 2:53 PM
Of course it's Orbán. I've said it before and I'll probably say it again: Time to kick Hungary out of the EU and NATO.
This fucking guy!!

Every. Time 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

Carney's Davos speech today was basically a funeral service for the post-Second World War international order. We're back to the pre-First World War age of avaricious great powers salivating to carve up small countries like Thanksgiving turkeys. We need to be ready.
January 21, 2026 at 2:52 AM
I have to ask: Who asks him a question like that? Did he call on the reporter from MAGA Trump Pepe Pravda News or something? You're a journalist, damn it all. Don't just glaze the guy; ask him a tough question.
Trump: "I think God is very proud of the job I've done"
January 20, 2026 at 9:13 PM
Genuinely one of the most morally bankrupt and reprehensible human beings ever to sully the face of God's green Earth.
Trump: "ICE is gonna be too rough with somebody. They're gonna make a mistake sometimes. I felt horribly when I was told the young woman had the tragedy. But when I learned her father is - I hope he still is, but I don't know - was a tremendous Trump fan. It's terrible. It's so sad. It just happens"
