My daughter did a round of senior photos in front of First Avenue in Minneapolis and I had to honor @discordpod.bsky.social at least once.

I know this is the Bad News app but I saw this sign at Reckless Records in Chicago yesterday and felt the need to share it with @discordpod.bsky.social.

Quote this with a book you read way too young that explains why you are the way you are.

Post one of the most haunting shots in movie history from a film made before the year 2000.

This is the first thing that popped into my head.

Honestly the more I listen to “Schockadelica” the more I’m like…shoulda voted for John! These drafts are stressful for everyone. 😂 @discordpod.bsky.social
If true, it is one perfect pop song begetting another. Also, our Prince song draft is now out for Patreon subscribers!
Loved the episode! Especially appreciate the attention given to best track 2 of all time, Take Me with U. Also, am I alone in thinking Phil Collins stole/borrowed the opening drum idea here for Easy Lover? Wouldn’t be the first time he borrowed from Prince!

I'm having a rough go of it lately, and have been thinking: everyone is going through something, and you have no idea what it is, or how it's affecting them.

Quote post this is if you're going through something, and maybe we'll all realize that we aren't as alone as we feel right now.

Apart from U Got the Look (because Sheena), I wasn’t familiar with this album at all. The soundtracks to PURPLE RAIN and BATMAN were more my jam back in the day. But this was a great ep! He’s part of our DNA here in Minneapolis, and I love learning more about his career. @discordpod.bsky.social

I love that I can still check out older YA books from the stacks at the library. This copy of THE PERILOUS GARD even came with a secret librarian note in the back. #booksky @hclib.bsky.social

While everyone waits for the Buckingham Nicks reissue this fall may I suggest listening to CUNNINGHAM BIRD, a great interpretation of this mysterious album by Andrew Bird and Madison Cunningham.

My June reads according to @thestorygraph.com. Decided to start a Series of Unfortunate Events re-read for the first time since they came out and honestly it’s been great. #booksky

Continuing this slow task of logging every movie I’ve ever watched since 1992 by going through 30+ years of my journals. Damn, Frodo is really trying to take that top spot from the newsies….

Sad to hear of film composer Lalo Schifrin’s death at age 93 today. I know he’s probably most known for the Mission: Impossible theme (iconic), but I’ve always had a soft spot for his Amityville Horror film score.

Except for Nights in White Satin (which I shouldn’t even count because I probably heard it in a commercial for a Time Life Music compilation), I had never heard a Moody Blues song until I discovered @discordpod.bsky.social.

But now? The Moody Blues are like a warm, fuzzy blanket. Pure comfort.
Some of you will be thrilled & some of you will be annoyed, but we're talking about our favorite band again! The Present features A+ Moody Blues songs & great arrangements. If you’re a skeptic, we hope you’ll listen to this episode and end up convinced. discordpod.com/listen/163-t... #musicsky
163: The Moody Blues - The Present (1983) — Discord & Rhyme: An Album Podcast
You might think we’re scraping the bottom of the barrel by choosing The Present for our annual Moody Blues episode, but that’s not true at all. Even though the band themselves hated it, and it’s qui...

What actors' expressions in a movie will stay with you the rest of your life?

(Honestly I could post different answers every day).

These are the ones that I have and I love them. ❤️
On 23 June 1929: artist Barbara Remington is born. Remington is perhaps best known for her US paperback covers of The Lord of the Rings; although somewhat controversial, many readers love them. What do you think you? #Tolkien #lotr #booksky

Thinking about James Horner today on the 10th anniversary of his death.

My top three Horner moments:

1. All Systems Go - The Launch (from Apollo 13)
2. Rose (from Titanic)
3. The Ludlows (from Legends of the Fall)

“The nervous director of Jaws.” ❤️ (and Albert Brooks)
This was the Rivoli in NYC. 50 years ago this AM I was in a car with the nervous director of “Jaws” and Albert Brooks heading over there. The director wondered whether there’d be a line. There was. It went around the corner and far beyond. He really hadn’t known this could happen. What a day!

Going between thinking of all the artists who never had a 10th album (and never will), and “wow, that was their TENTH album???” Also this list seems right up @discordpod.bsky.social’s alley.
