The gall of American elites, who look like they take and undertake every drug and procedure under the fucking Sun, to talk about “healthy & natural” diets and lifestyles, is utter batshit shamelessness.
RFK Jr: "President Trump is revising the dietary guidelines which is gonna dramatically change the food culture in this country."

If a single penny leaves the BBC’s coffers and goes either to Trump, or some “investment” in one of his grifter mates’ scams/holdings, then the corporation will have signed it’s own death warrant.

I suspect there's also a strong element here of far too many journalists and BBC managers spending too much time on X and getting a wholly misleading impression of how big a story the Trump edits were. They're excessively influenced by right-wing activist opinion, and particularly US opinion.
The BBC is hopeless at reporting on itself. The idea that a minor, if misleading, edit is the most serious crisis in its history is ludicrous self-absorption, even allowing for the context of a Faragite desire to break it. It's certainly not as serious as the Iraq-Gilligan crisis.

I generally like them but yes, they’re not great. Also, they just make the still somewhat silly redemption at the end of ROTJ even more preposterous when you now know Vader committed TWO genocides, as well as mass murder.
One of the funniest things about getting older is watching people my age succumb to nostalgia about these terrible films.
God its so insane anakin admits to slaughtering a bunch of kids and it’s just a non factor for padme

A Conservative motion to cancel Oxford’s new Congestion Charge has been rejected by a meeting of Oxfordshire County Council. The Conservative and Labour groups voted to withdraw the charge but were outvoted by the LibDem administration and the Greens. (Our live posts are in the thread below!)
The vote on Oxford’s Congestion Charge is taken and goes broadly along party lines.

For removing the charge: 22 (Con, Lab, Ind)
Against removing the charge: 36 (LibDem, Green, Henley)
Abstain: 2 (Will Boucher-Giles, LibDem for Chesterton; Emma Markham, Green for Shrivenham)

I have to say @oxfordclarion.bsky.social is a breath of fresh air when it comes to thorough local journalism. Not like the ‘other’ one where you have to navigate stories on the Beckhams, Clarkson, Emma Watson, the Tory councillor’s PR and “this one thing you need to know”.
And we’re back at Oxfordshire County Council’s full council meeting. The Conservative and Independent group has put forward a motion calling for the Oxford congestion charge to be withdrawn. Their leader Cllr Liam Walker begins by saying “the so-called consultation was a sham”.

I’m sure this sounded like a gotcha, but the park and ride with free bus travel is still a better deal for those coming from outside Oxford than those who live within the city and take the bus.
Cllr Thomas Ashby (Con, Witney West): “Many of our residents travel into Oxford regularly. Driving is often the only practical choice. The scheme risks deepening rural inequalities. The so-called free Park & Ride isn’t what it seems, because you still need to pay for parking.”

I get the noble sentiment but most people offline without big followings don’t put themselves in situations where they encounter differing opinions or hateful conduct. They cultivate their environments (whether that’s good or bad); why should online be different?
Blocking hatemongers is one thing but this trend of using mass block lists to avoid hearing from people who might or might not hold points of view you expect to disagree with is unhealthy imo and hurts the platform.

Bluesky was better off with folks like Margaret Mitchell and Giada Pistilli on it.

Share Labour’s achievements if you must but if you can’t at least see that it’s somewhat tainted by the govt’s abhorrent stance on trans people’s healthcare & existence in public life, as well as constantly having their immigration policy being led by the right and their messengers then 🤷🏼

I get this but I also see many people from Ireland on social media cast the UK/US/Canada etc, and their citizens, as just irredeemable, which I’m sure is understandable, but doesn’t necessarily help.

The inflatable costume thing with the protesters is really good because it renders the body armor/CoD weaponry aesthetic of the ICE Nazis even more ridiculous than it already was. Suiting up like Rambo to face down a dancing frog. No coming back from that

This is obviously batshit but it does bring me joy that the right constantly broadcast that they’re friendless, boring dickheads.

Spoiler:
Trump has.
The media hasn’t.
Trump on Schumer: "I think he's losing IQ points with time. I think that happens. I hope it hasn't happened with me. I know if it did, you guys would let me know about it very quickly."

"We're saving God."

Roll that phrase around your head. Consider the theological and cosmological implications.
Eric Trump: "We're saving Christianity. We've saving God. We've saving the family unit. We're saving this nation. I mean, DEI is out of the window, Benny. You no longer have Colin Kaepernick kneeling for the national anthem. You no longer have Budweiser going woke as hell. All of this is dead."

Not Helene, but some of the replies to her post from accounts that rightly call out the state of UK politics, particularly the rise of reform & the far right, really do feed into it. An almost visceral disdain not just for the politics but for the country itself.
If you are overly focused on the admittedly increasingly batsh*t character of British politics, don‘t neglect the batsh*t character of French politics.
