Idea for Sunday news shows: Instead of interviewing politicians about stuff they know nothing about, interview 1) experts who do and 2) the people affected by policies.

Some of these same people (Jan sixers) have committed some of the same crimes while working as ICE agents. Most of them will never be prosecuted.

When Trump says only "the best people," he bases that solely on whether they like Trump and say nice things about him. That's what makes them "the best."
"A jury in Florida found the man guilty of five charges, including molesting a child under 12 and another under 16...

"He tried to silence one victim by claiming he would receive $10 million from the Trump administration as restitution for Jan. 6 defendants...

Illinois adopts American Academy of Pediatrics vaccine schedule, shunning federal recommendations
Illinois’ adoption of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ childhood vaccine schedule is the latest example of Illinois breaking with the federal government over health care policies.

Ager: I had a neighbor who didn’t go to the doctor because he had a stomach ache and thought he’d be all right. Four months later he died. People are more afraid of the costs than getting the care they need. This is happening all across the country, and we can do better.

Had Republicans had just stuck to hammering Democrats on fraud they would've had a potent political weapon. Instead they turned it into a hate campaign against Somalis and an orgy of violence against Minnesotans and now we're getting statements like this 👇
pretty wild statement re: Republican Chris Madel drop from race for MN governor:

"Saying he cannot support the national GOP's 'stated retribution on citizens of our state, nor can I count myself a member of a party that would do so."

Q: They defied a search warrant this morning. Do you think they'll abide by a federal court order?

FREY: Everybody listen to that question. The question is 'will this administration abide by a court order.' These are the underpinnings of our democracy and Constitution. The answer better be yes.

Timeline: How the Shooting of Alex Jeffrey Pretti Unfolded (Gift Article)
A moment-by-moment analysis of videos from the scene shows that Mr. Pretti was already restrained when shots were fired. The footage contradicts the federal government’s account of the fatal shooting.

I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.

For @msnownews.bsky.social, I wrote an article about how ICE Watch is grounded in sociological theories of violence prevention.

The reality is that most men will only commit public violence in extremely specific scenarios and ICE Watch disrupts the conditions necessary for escalation.
Opinion | I'm a Minneapolis sociologist who studies violence. Here's how ICE observers are helping.
Research into how violence occurs shows that disapproval from the people around you can help reduce it.

To characterize the document the White House produced as a health care “plan” is overly generous. The entirety of the proposal — literally, from start to finish — is 386 words.

There is no bill. The plan, for all intents and purposes, does not exist.

The White House’s health care gambit isn’t just a sham, it also diverts the process from an actually helpful solution.
