Let's stop pretending that the billionaire media, endlessly attacking the BBC, has the slightest interest in balance, impartiality and accuracy. They won't be happy until the BBC is more rightwing than Vlad the Impaler. And then it still won't be enough.

Between August of this year and October the national debt increased by $1 trillion from $37 trillion to $38 trillion — the fastest addition of $1 trillion in history. Keep in mind this increase occurred in the absence of the COVID pandemic when money was needed to prevent economic collapse.
U.S. hits $38 trillion in debt, after the fastest accumulation of $1 trillion outside of the pandemic
This rapid debt accumulation is the fastest outside of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the debt having reached $37 trillion in August.

Last Tuesday’s elections might fit Churchill’s famous words when they are applied to Trump: "This is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning".

I get angry with dems at times because I expect better out of them. I dont expect an ounce of decency, decorum, or dignity out of the gop. I'll always fight to elect democrats period. Repubs are the culprits for this mess we are in, however I'm tired of dems always having to save the day.

One thing about Germany I learned since I've been living here. They don't try to run their past history. They own up to it,unlike in America, where conservatives try to denials America past history.

I honestly can’t wait until traitor trash Chuck Schumer is cast out of the Democratic Party once and for all. He cowers to the powerful and we the people are the ones who suffer for it. He continues to be a disgrace.

Senator Schumer is no longer effective and should be replaced. If you can’t lead the fight to stop healthcare premiums from skyrocketing for Americans, what will you fight for?

Dude is beyond worthless. There are only 3 options to explain Schumer’s behavior.

1. Incapable of leadership
2. Controlled opposition
3. Both

The Democratic Senators who are going to vote for legislation that gains them nothing concrete, will have a lot of explaining to do if Mike Johnson refuses to take up the bill.

As I've always said, I will not support a government funding bill that continues to raise our costs, jeopardizes our health care, and hurts the people of my state.

I’m urging my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to stand up for Americans who are counting on us to lower their costs, and address…

Reminds me of the white moderates MLK warned about so many years ago.

Just useless.

I’m already seeing people insist that even with this capitulation the Democrats will still sweep 2026 because Trump is that bad. It was precisely that attitude that gave us 2024.
November 10, 2025 at 2:07 AM
By voting for a bill that does nothing to extend the ACA subsidies, the so-called moderate Democratic Senators are doing what Trump couldn’t get done when Sen. John McCain was still alive, namely kill the ACA. They’re doing it without forcing the Republicans to actually having to vote to repeal it.
November 10, 2025 at 2:07 AM
The fact that some Democratic Senators are caving is absolute bullshit. The Republicans have nuked the filibuster when convenient for their purposes. So given they control the House, Senate and the presidency, this shutdown is totally on them. They could have opened the government at any time.

But I cannot support a deal that still leaves millions of Americans wondering how they are going to pay for their health care or whether they will be able to afford to get sick.
November 10, 2025 at 1:28 AM
OK. So let’s say the Senate Republicans actually keep their word and hold a vote in 40 days on extending the ACA subsidies. That vote will most likely end in defeat for the extension just like all the votes before it. And if it gets through the House and Senate it won’t have a veto-proof majority.

The problem with any Democratic Senator who decides to go along with reopening the government without getting anything substantial on the ACA is that they’re not actually negotiating with the GOP Senators but with Trump. And we know how good he is at keeping his word.
November 10, 2025 at 1:29 AM
I live in DC so I don’t have Senate representation. Regardless, any Senate Democrat who caves to GOP demands to reopen the government without getting anything substantial in return, will kill the momentum from the recent No Kings protest and the blowout results from last Tuesday’s elections.
