Cat Dad, Sports Fan, Professional Cynic, Transit Advocate, Xennial, anti-Republican. Nothing to write home about.

CT born, NY raised, Currently NC via DC/Boston.
Usually, I would be giving up social media for Lent. But not in a midterm primary year with so much on the line.

Guess it might just be Facebook then.
Now just watch to see a family member die while I'm gone.

Wesley Knott clearly wishes that he could have a Nida Allam in Wake to take on Deborah Ross in 2028. I don't blame him though. #NCpol
1,000+ people in Durham right now for a Bernie Sanders rally promoting Nida Allam's campaign to unseat Democratic Rep. Valerie Foushee. One of the other speakers is Wesley Knott, chair of the Wake County Democratic Party #ncpol

I'm sorry we failed you, James Van Der Beek. Just like we fail everyone who has ever died of cancer, the worst disease in the history of humanity which no global society has had the will to eradicate.

Maybe he is the lucky one here. No politics, pain, poverty, or hate when you no longer live.

The Marie-Philip Poulin who scored golden goals as a CWHL-playing CEGEP student and in a gap year at BU would've been seen as "too young" by the same Team Canada who without her playing seemingly collapsed with her hurt. And that is a shame in this hockey world.

So, are we all bailing on Discord now?

Why do I think that there will be no consensus replacement and online society will maintain a unfilled gap like when Xitter sold its soul?

Why does it feel like Epstein was some sort of glue that via the power and elite classes kept the West together? And why is it there were probably many before him?

How was it that a 25 year old white woman organizer who never held political office could defeat a 73 year old black woman who was incumbent party chair, 3 term NCGA rep, and a PhD/retired teacher?

Was it racism? Or that the latter's (in)actions set the North Carolina Dems back years? #NCPol

I would sign up for a "Good Will Dunkin" sitcom.
Dunkin’s de-aged sitcom slop is the first thing I’ve seen in 90 minutes that has even the suggestion of a pulse.

Chuck Grassley could've been a St. Louis Brown or a Philadelphia Athletic (or very narrowly a Boston Brave) and should've retired 20 years ago.

Dianne Feinstein, Rockford Peach, same deal when she was alive.
Okay! I appreciate your consistency.

So NBC has a sports producer who does a podcast about figure skating named Sarah Hughes who isn't the Sarah Hughes who wasn't one of the darlings of the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics. Got it.

If you are old enough to have been a Milwaukee Brave or a Kansas City Athletic, you really shouldn't be in politics.
“I would rather you vote for what is morally correct,” Davidson said.

“Don’t talk to me about my own morality,” DeLauro shot back.

“Don’t tell your constituents what they can and can’t talk to you about,” replied Rev. Nathan Empsall. “What you are voting for is not moral.”

Republicans don't want democracy. They want an anti-Democrat spiteocracy where nothing gets done because they say so.
this kinda shit from incumbents republicans is so funny BRO YOU COULD PASS A NATIONAL GERRYMANDERING BAN RIGHT NOW but they don't want that, they want republicans to gerrymander and democrats to roll over
February 7, 2026 at 1:59 PM
Hey, remember when NBC got lazy and tape delayed the opening ceremony to the Rio 2016 Olympics by a mere hour because...reasons?

Would that egregious case of #NBCFail fly today?
February 6, 2026 at 4:38 PM
The whole NC-04 thing is over accessibility and age and not race, right? Please tell me that I'm not crazy or racist here. Am I?

Wake County could use its own Nida Allam in 2028 to primary Deborah Ross but that's just me. #NCPol #NorthCarolina

Drake Maye was snubbed worse than Cal Raleigh. Change my mind.

Who got the 80s Pyramid theme into my Beanpot?
February 2, 2026 at 11:44 PM
Someone spent last night in XCancel and found that @moedavis.bsky.social (age 67) really isn't fond of @abreezeclayton.bsky.social (age 28) or the NC Dems punishing the Willingham/Cunningham/Majid/Wray quartet.

It's like Boomers resent the young getting any sort of power at all. #NCpol

Why did you have to remind me that Cam Schittler exists, ESPN? I thought that Trey Yesavage schooling you would've put you on the back burner.
February 2, 2026 at 12:33 AM
Why does it feel like Epstein might have been the glue that was keeping the Western world together?

What's worse is that there had to have been Epsteins before Epstein and the rot is as old as time, right?

LA Kings fans, your opinion of Darryl Evans?
February 1, 2026 at 10:21 PM
@ashleydmac9.bsky.social Thoughts on this out-of-necessity Kings/Canes broadcast?
February 1, 2026 at 10:18 PM
I always wondered what CBS's coverage of the NFL in the pre-merger era was like.

If this shared broadcast is an idea, the answer is "awkward as fudge."
The quality of the broadcast today may look a little different today. The reason for the lack of pre/post is that FDSN wasn't able to get their production truck up here. Both the Kings and Canes will be using the same feed.

Normal Weather: *Never touch local news on TV ever*

Winter Weather: *Wife has to watch all the local news for background noise*

Why is that? I had avoided the local news for over a year but this makes it open season?
