A little about me and my aesthetic: I love books, cats, and the F-word, plus the LGBTQIA+ community, especially the transgender community.

For books, it's mostly sci-fi, fantasy, romance, mystery, and any combinations imaginable.
Talked to hubby today about reducing my meds so my creativity comes back and I can write again.

It's a problem for after the holidays - no one should be mentally unstable over the holidays, am I right?!?

My kid just said to me: "If I had a nickel for every time I felt guilty or mad at myself, I'd have two nickels."

Meanwhile, I'd be a millionaire.

Did I just unsuspend several shorter books on my library @libbyapp.com to make up for this whopping 36-hour audiobook that I keep restarting because it's so good but my memory is so bad?!?

Yes, yes I did.

Anyone else read/reading #Alchemised and had the constant, irrational urge to reread previous sections?!?

It has never taken me so long to read a book but I keep going back...

As I keep reading this book all night and into the morning, I remind myself that sleep is overrated.

Did I order a French urban dictionary for my own amusement?

Ouais.

I'd like to say it's for my trip to Paris in a few weeks, but inevitably I only ask if they speak English, and since they always have, that's the most French I speak except for the polite necessities of Bonjour et Merci.

Dinner was delicious, and though I didn't have the energy to shower, I did put on proper clothes (sans bra), go downstairs, and set the table. 100% worth it to have a proper dinner, but I am so exhausted now. Canceled plans for next week I'm so tired. Chronic illness sucks.

Finally getting some beef wellington for dinner! We had it for the first time at a Valentines dinner more than a decade ago and absolutely loved it, but it's not something we could just get anywhere. 2 years after arriving in the UK, found a local place that makes it.

I’m a writer and I write about war and conflict; I spend 80% of my reading time on primary sources. The impact of violence and war on people—not just soldiers but civilians and families—is terrible and lasts generations. For Remembrance Day, honour the fallen, but remember war and its costs.

The constant question of what book do I read next is frustrating at times. This close to the end of the year, I tend to want to cram in as many books as I can... but I refuse to choose short books just to satisfy a ridiculous craving.

What are you reading? #BookSky

I have never wanted to use ChatGP or any other AI, but tonight when I asked my daughter to draft an email to our computer guy so he knows what happened to her PC, I genuinely wanted to see if it could make her words legible.

I won't, but I'm not sending her words to the guy as is.

Hey! I wrote an email in French to a hotel I was looking at, and when they replied, also in French, I understood every word!

Did I lay in bed plotting the end of a book until sunrise and then hastily scribble notes on the back of a letter from the NHS so I wouldn't forget the plot points?

Yes. Yes, I did.

Not ashamed to admit that I spent the last hour reading random definitions out of the urban dictionary. I feel both smarter and dumber now. #words #togosa #UrbanDictionary

My favourite not-sexual one: togosa (aka mimosa to go)

I am constantly in awe of so many author's ability to pull emotions out of me. I have no idea how to fully express that awe in a book review, and doubt even then that the author would see it... but I wish they all knew just how much their work affected me. #BookSky

Drafted the scene while I was thinking about it, and wrote it from a male POV. Not sure if I like the heteronormative approach, or if I should stick to the original.

Obviously not in a relationship, because although my husband doesn't mind my fascination, it looks bad in a romance novel, IMHO.

Drafted a poem about my unnatural fascination with the memory of a bridesmaid seen in Brighton. She was one of many in the bridal party, and I feel the need to capture the instant captivation I felt so I can use it in a book. It's been four days and I can't stop thinking about her.

I know a lot of people are already spreading this info, but hoping to spread it a little further: donating to a food bank, food pantry, or food distribution mutual aid group is really important right now, as TFG and the fucking GOP are shutting down snap benefits on November 1. I'll link to a few

Updated Battle of the Books for October, which was difficult because of so many rereads, but in the end, I'll always choose Martha Wells' Exit Strategy to reread over any other book. So it won the month, but I had to choose Teo's Durumi by Elaine U.Cho in a head to head. #BookSky
