It’s been clear for many hours now that Trump isn’t and won’t be “running” Venezuela. But because he said it, the elite media headlines it anyway.
How long before Trump aides start walking this back?

If we’re honest with ourselves about who we are as a country, the reality is this goes back far further than Iran-Contra, or Watergate & Cambodia, all the way to U.S. Grant’s original sin of exonerating the racist traitors, Robert Edward Lee & co., at Appomattox in 1865

I’m at Times Square, where an emergency “No War On Venezuela” protest just took to the street. Easily a thousand people here in real-feel 20°F weather.

“No more coups, no more wars, Venezuela’s not yours!”

“No boots on the ground no bombs in the air, U.S. out of everywhere!”

Today I wrote about our white supremacist political movement's perverse insistence that "we don't have to apologize for being white anymore."

Conservatives have been apologizing, apparently. Did you know? I had no idea. So I asked, and here's what I found.

Trump openly says the US is now running Venezuela and we will be sending the US oil companies in to take the oil. Not even a hint of subtlety. Trump just ordered regime change to steal the oil for his oil oligarchs. Period!

On the NYT’s anti-trans bias
Not until early 2023 did I notice a trend in the Paper of Record’s coverage of trans rights. I commented on that January story, replete with passages like the following:

Even the co-founder of Y Combinator is saying it. ⬇️

The radical death cult rising from Silicon Valley venture capital is metastasizing rapidly.

It's an existential threat to democracy and humanity.

No more. Sweeney lays out specifically how the highest ranks of the NYT rigged coverage in favor of anti-trans bigots.

Which could have major implications for mail in voting — it’s a clever way to disenfranchise voters that’s going largely overlooked
