Inverse's Gaming section is being shut down as the company "divests" from gaming content. I'm out of a job along with my wonderful co-writers. I've put my heart and soul into this job for four years. Gonna need to take time to process, but I'm now completely open for work - and boy do I need it.

Inverse has decided to "divest from gaming content" so I'm out of a job again!
This is almost certainly the end of my career in games media, and probably the end of my writing career. I'd love for that not to be the case, so I'd appreciate any leads but I'm honestly not hopeful for obvious reasons♥️

Breaks my heart to share this, but today is my last day at The Verge and I am looking for work! I'd really like to stay in video games, preferably in some kind of journalistic capacity but I can do PR/Marketing and maybe even a lil Narrative Design. Please get in touch!

Haven't really played Pokémon since this thanks to the holidays being kinda nuts and getting sick. Itching to get back to it.
Been playing more Magic than Pokémon lately but I did super well at Pokemon locals tonight. Was just one very close game away from taking first tonight.

With the release of the new Animal Crossing update I wanted to look back on and share a pandemic-era time capsule and one of my favorite things I've written, exploring how Animal Crossing: New Horizons helped so many of us stay connected in a world that was shutting down in 2020:
No Man Is an Island: How Animal Crossing: New Horizons brought us together over the last year
March of 2020 simultaneously seems like it happened only yesterday and a lifetime ago. Many of us had been looking forward to it for months in anticipation of

Do I dare turn on the Mammoth/Blue Jackets game for the rest of the third period to see how this shakes out or do I value my mental health

Rude of Nintendo to drop Path of Radiance when I’m both in the middle of other games from my backlog and about to start some pretty long reviews.

Just found out my wife might be losing her job, so I'm desperately searching for work. Contract, full-time, freelance, whatever. Press, PR, consulting, anything. I have 16 years of editorial experience and have been writing about games for 13. Reviews, news, previews, guides, etc. RTs appreciated.

Started feeling better and my furnace went out last night and I can't seem to quick fix it on my own.

Not my week, folks.
Guys I think… I think I’m starting to feel human again
I am currently the sickest I have been in years, and have been since I woke up on January 1st, and have to go into work now because I used all of my PTO to take time off for the holidays.

Please send me your energy.

If Greta Gerwig’s Narnia adaptations somehow make it to The Last Battle it’ll be interesting to see what she does about Susan. I can’t imagine Susan’s status in the original ending sits right with her.

Announcement:
#indiegames fans may remember I used to have a column on @hard-drive.net where I covered a new game each week. The site's new owners have effectively canceled that column.

Hence, I'm launching it as a newsletter in 2026. Look forward to that, and if you're up for it, get the word out.

yeah my IMO is: it's bad to use it, it's bad they left it in, it's good they removed it, it's good they disavow it, and it's entirely justified to have rescinded awards for it. i will continue to talk about clair obscur fondly.

"we did use it when it was new but we didn't like it and never will again" is a great and satisfying answer

Bringing back Steve Rogers for the first official Doomsday teaser is cowardice.

Trying to recreate the Infinity War/Endgame hype with none of the actual buildup by brushing aside all of the (mostly subpar) work they did with their movies and TV shows between 2020 and now.
I’m lenient when it comes to the MCU simply because I’ve loved Marvel my whole life and generally feel like the films/shows are fun regardless of quality.

That being said, it’s wild that Marvel Studios thinks they can just trot out a huge cast for Doomsday like it’s as big an event as Infinity War.

i think that if you are a member of the games media disgusted by this (and you should be) you have to really, genuinely ask yourself what the difference is between this and saying "Microsoft is on the BDS list but [game] is good in XYZ ways"
I hate it here
