Interesting that when our response to fascists organizing was to beat the shit out of them and shut everything down, they stopped coming. Now that our strategy is interpretive dance and court orders, they're suddenly brave again. And this time they don't even need Portland Police to protect them!

No it fucking wasn't. We had six homicides on Burnside between the bridge and the brewery in one fucking calendar week in '96, and the shootout on Pioneer Courthouse Square in Crack '95.

It is the moral duty of good people globally to make sure Netanyahu and his enablers like Biden and Trump see a life sentence or a firing squad.
Dick Cheney died far too old and far too free. The fact that such monsters get to pass away in their eighties surrounded by loved ones instead of alone in a cage is an indictment of our entire civilization.

So when racists hold rallies downtown Portland Police will move heaven and earth to "protect their right to protest" but somehow that same logic does not apply to ICE protestors. I have dozens of memories of being beaten and gassed by PPB for countering Nazis. Suddenly they're nowhere to be found!

Alameda police in California fired dozens of shots at a Uhaul truck that reversed too close to them. Full on firing squad mode towards journalists and protestors, and there's claims at least one bystander was hit. Worst part is the journo who recorded it goes out of his way to cover for the police

Video from earlier when horses ran through the crowd. Cops were swinging batons randomly at the crowd as well.

If your protest isn't actively being attacked by the police, your protest is not a threat to that which you are protesting. You are at a parade. If your goal is to express dissatisfaction with the way things are, why not simply change them? They will ignore this protest, like they did the last one.

It's almost unbelievable to see Portland Police do something other than enable racists and Nazis. Probably the first time in over a decade I've seen them respond adequately to far-right violence. Absolutely unprecedented. They must REALLY care about their image right now.
Portland police arrested a right-wing agitator at the ICE facility. Protesters say this man punched a woman in the face on video. I’ll update if I see the video, but it seems very likely given how fast PPB responded and what everyone is saying.

Lowkey disagree with this take because what did we achieve? We didn't "give Trump what he wanted" and yet he's still doing everything he wants. Our neighbors are still being kidnapped, he's going on TV and promising to airstrike antifascists, manufacturing a war with Venezuela, what did we win?
My read is that fascists in the Trump Admin had Portland central to their martial law plan — 100% confident they could poke us & get visuals they wanted — and we, incredibly, have denied it to them in the funniest way possible.
