My choice? Colorado:
- Very politically engaged electorate
- Large Latino population
- It was kind of competitive once, it could be again
- First candidate to climb a mountain gets three delegates
People talk about what should be the first-in-the-nation primary, but honestly, hard to beat Michigan:
-Union state
-Detroit has a large Black population
-Swingy suburbs
-More racially and ethnically diverse than Iowa or New Hampshire

Right: And also, some of the smartest people I've met in Missouri politics are rural electeds who don't have college degrees.
One of the most annoying tics in American political discussion: equating class/income level with education level. It's how we talk about HVAC repairmen or car dealers who vote for Trump as "working-class" or "Middle Class" rather than upper-middle class or upper-class.

I love this video, but it's also inspired me to create a defense of February.

Two of my kids were born in February.

It's the shortest month, so you don't spend as much money as December or January.

Presidents Day allows us to celebrate Warren G. Harding for his 1990s smash "Regulate"
Don't give anything an Emmy until it's as good as this.

Same with the Backstreet Boys Crypto ad
That Super Bowl Ring ad backfired spectacularly.

I took a break from covering Missouri politics today ... by interviewing a Florissant man who set a world record for naming the most WWE theme songs in 60 seconds.

The most important redistricting case in MO right now.

While this case will almost certainly be appealed, if PNP turning in signatures prevented the 2025 congressional map from going into effect – then the '22 map will almost certainly be used this year. And @cleaver.house.gov will win re-election.

I purchased and listened to this yesterday.

It gets my full and complete endorsement.

I've always had a soft spot for Enema of the State (it's catchy and ... reminds me of youth gone by). Hearing the album sonically reconstructed through the perspectives of trans girls is, as the kids say, rad!
ICYMI:

I executive-produced (and appeared on) a benefit compilation of trans girls doing all of Blink-182's ENEMA OF THE STATE!!!!

@emdashreed.bsky.social and @afewgoodrecords.bsky.social released it yesterday

IT'S FUCKING GREAT, and all proceeds go to @translifeline.org!!!

For the record: Ed never wore a trench coat during his time in Missouri politics.

Nor did I see him wear a trench coat during the times I randomly saw him walking through my old neighborhood (we both lived in STL Hills before he moved to STL County and then Virginia)
Ed Martin is tryin real hard to get caught workin at the White House.

A friend of mine grew up with John Carter Cash. He tells stories of goofing around with Johnny's guitars, only to have the man himself (he was reportedly very tall) pop his head into the room every half hour or so and ask "you boys want a pizza or something?"
I will go to my GRAVE cackling over this Marlon Brando anecdote

Super Bowl takeaways:

As I said earlier, I like Bad Bunny more for his WWE performances than his music ... but it was a solid halftime show.

Happy for Sam Darnold. He really turned his career around.

Man Drake Maye absolutely sucks.

Lots of people are obviously focusing on Bad Bunny's music tonight.

But he's also the most impressive celebrity professional wrestler of the last 20 to 30 years. (Maybe ever?)

I try not to get upset with random Internet commenters, because who knows if they're real people.

But the ones who said Aliya Rahman deserved her treatment and claimed she "should have just complied?" They either don't know how people with sensory disorders react to stress – or they don't care.

This is the anti-vaxx two-step. One of the big arguments anti-vaxxers make (including Trump) is that doctors load up kids with vaccines and this makes them autistic. This is why they argue to spread out the schedule. It's science-washed anti-science
“Any single vaccine” is the key phrasing here.

And it’s deliberate. See, Bhattacharya cannot acknowledge the truth that vaccines do not cause autism—indeed the idea that they do is based on fraudulent research—without alienating his anti-vax friends with whom he made a devil’s bargain for power.
BERNIE SANDERS: Do vaccines cause autism?

BHATTACHARYA: I do not believe that the measles vaccine causes autism

SANDERS: Nah. Uh uh. I didn't ask measles. Do vaccines cause autism?

BHATTACHARYA: I have not seen a study that suggests any single vaccine causes autism

These are pretty good concessions for Senate Democrats, especially the one-day delay to take up House bills with amendments.

The 18 signature requirement to use a PQ only matters if you can't get the entire GOP caucus to sign it (I think abortion/IP/redistricting, et al all got over 18 signaures)
