@pfparks.bsky.social thinks Albertans well-being shouldn't be left to charities.

From all my shady dealings with Sam Mraiche, MHCare, and other generous corporate execs, I'm wealthy enough to disagree.

Opinion: Albertans' well-being shouldn't be left to charities
We do not need to "restore" the role of charity in basic health care and education.

Crescent Heights Medical Clinic in Medicine Hat is closing March 31 2026 because it cannot recruit family doctors to replace those leaving. This clinic has been in the community for 30 years. It’s in Premier Smith’s riding.

Danielle Smith once claimed her "mission in public life" was to defend the fundamental rights and freedoms, and that they "cannot be taken away from us by government".

But now she's the one who has taken away fundamental rights and freedoms from Albertans.

Anytime anyone claims that Smith used the Notwithstanding clause in a way that Peter Lougheed would have approved of…

Feel free to share this from his 1998 paper that makes it clear that absolutely isn’t the case.

Once one government learns it can override your fundamental rights, every government learns it can too. That’s the danger of the Notwithstanding Clause. It teaches power to ignore accountability.

Draw the line. Defend the Charter.

Your regular reminder: Albertans don't want public funds flowing to private schools. But the government benefits from the myth that they do.

Now cheaper for wine businesses to sell to the U.S. than to Alberta. So any bullshit you hear from @daniellesmithab.bsky.social is exactly that. Following the Trump tariff route.

She's a menace grabbing ALL power from municipalities/feds under her wing. Her AUTHORITARIAN wing where SHE gets to set the rules of our society by her pros/cons.

Every election, we also hold a vote for the kids to decide what's for dinner.

We do this to explain democracy (you don't always get what you want, you always get your say) & to expose the kids to how easy it is to vote.
