Yes. And "virtue signaling." It's a legitimate criticism of corporations and police departments and the like. Turning it around and using it as an accusation against everyday people doing their best is just bleak. Nothing good can mean anything.
We need to shut down the word "performative" until we can figure out what the hell is going on. Of course adopting symbols of protest and resistance is performative! Performance is a core strategy for mass movements!! That's why the call them demonstrations!!!
"In response to criticisms she's heard about the hat being 'performative,' Mashaal, the shop owner, said the thousands of dollars that have gone toward supporting their community speaks for itself."

People need to understand that a large part of being in a society is actually performative. But being performative is not a bad thing! People wear signals of our virtue so neighbors know how to find each other without needing to say a word. That’s both practical and performative.

Public Safety and Democracy Depend on Stopping ICE and CBP
Text SIGN PMMWLV to 50409 — Thanks to the OBBBA, we have now seen in heartbreaking, bloody detail what Donald Trump’s idea of immigration enforcement means for our communities. It’s masked thugs executing protesters on camera and law enforcement investigating their families instead of the killers. It’s little children being snatched off the sidewalk and used as bait to capture their parents. It’s flash bangs in restaurants and senior citizens being forced out into the snow in their underwear. It’s families being separated and neighborhoods being shattered as our family and friends are disappeared. It’s citizens being deported, It’s no due process, warrantless searches, secret police. It’s the administration telling us to reject the evidence of our eyes and ears, telling us that the out-of-control gang of armed goons stalking our streets is making us safer. We’ve seen enough. The American people have made their voices heard loud and clear: this cannot go on. It is a threat to our rights and our very lives. And the Trump Administration has no intention of stopping. Defenders of democracy have leverage at this moment as a result of the government funding deadline. It is imperative that you not squander it. We need more than cosmetic changes that sound good in a press release but protect no one. Do not support appropriating a penny to ICE and CBP without at minimum: ·       Repealing the $75 billion slush fund for ICE and $65 billion slush fund for CBP ·       Significant reductions in funding for detention and removal ·       Limiting the use of guns and military equipment by ICE during civil actions and codifying a clear use-of-force standard for ICE and CBP agents ·       Restricting Border Patrol activity to the border and getting them out of our cities ·       Congressional investigations of every ICE and CBP agent who has broken the law and every death in their custody ·       Required federal cooperation with state and local investigations into their misconduct ·       Ending qualified immunity for ICE and CBP agents ·       A restoration of the Bivens remedy, allowing us to file suits for damages against ICE and CBP agents violating our civil rights ·       Ending family detention ·       Addressing the overcrowding, unsanitary conditions, lack of adequate food and medical care at detention facilities ·       Banning immigration agents from wearing masks and requiring they display clear identification ·       Banning immigration agents from conducting arrests or home searches without judicial warrants ·       Banning ICE or Border Patrol enforcement at schools, day cares, hospitals, houses of worship, courthouses and other sensitive locations ·       Banning ICE and CBP from targeting people based on race, language, accent, place of employment or location at time of apprehension – no more Kavanaugh stops ·       Meaningful, enforceable penalties for violation of these bans ·       Meaningful, enforceable penalties for obstructing congressional oversight of detention facilities ·       The removal of Deputy Chief of Staff and Homeland Security Adviser Stephen Miller, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, Border Czar Tom Homan, Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons and Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Rodney Scott from their jobs The White House will scream bloody murder at these demands. This is because they want a paramilitary force that is lawless and dangerous. None of them are unreasonable or particularly radical. They are simply intended to bring immigration enforcement back into the bounds of the Constitution, public safety, and common decency. Why would you accept anything less?

Halt All ICE Operations: Investigate Deaths And Inhumane Conditions Now
Text SIGN PSBFXZ to 50409 — Despite you lot giving ICE a larger budget than one of the top 3 largest militaries in the world, ICE stopped paying for detainee medical treatment in October. Nearly doubling (reported, not disappeared) detainees from 2025, ICE has experienced a rash of inmate deaths. 35 that they feel comfortable sharing, but the true numbers may not come to light for years because this administration has intentionally obfuscated records of arrests, transfers, and deportations. ICE allows abuse, medical neglect, inhumane conditions, starvation, and solitary confinement in their facilities, which is how concentration camps in Germany also started out. Death by negligence and inhumanity came a full decade before the ovens and gas chambers. Considering you all signed off on the Big Beautiful Bill, they should be more than able to cover things like medical care, food, clothing, and medical staff. They should be staffed enough to allow detainees due process and attorney privileges, but these constitutional rights have been taken from all of these people, too. Do not ever again speak about constitutional rights again if you are unwilling to stand up and protect them from clear evil. Unless you want your legacy to be forever tied to America’s deadly concentration camps in history books, halt all ICE operations and investigations and funding immediately.

🖋️ “The SAVE Act Is a Systematic Plan to Suppress the Vote” hit 5,000 signers!

💬 Text SIGN PUXNZP to 50409
The SAVE Act Is a Systematic Plan to Suppress the Vote
Text SIGN PUXNZP to 50409 — I am writing to urge you to oppose the SAVE Act (H.R. 22 / S. 128) and any expanded version, including a so-called “SAVE Act Plus” or “Super SAVE Act.” This legislation is not about election security. It is a coordinated effort to suppress lawful voters by turning registration into a bureaucratic obstacle course. First, the SAVE Act creates paperwork traps that silently disenfranchise eligible voters. By requiring documentary proof of citizenship, the bill makes voter registration fragile and failure-prone. Millions of married women have changed their last names, meaning their current legal name does not match the name on their birth certificate. Under this bill, those women could be denied registration unless they can locate and present additional documents. The same risk applies to voters who move, update their registration, or experience ordinary life changes. Voting should not hinge on flawless paperwork. Second, the SAVE Act would eliminate or severely disrupt modern voter registration. Online registration, mail-in registration, automatic registration, and voter registration drives rely on streamlined systems that cannot easily collect or verify citizenship documents. In practice, this bill would force many Americans to register in person, rolling back decades of progress and disproportionately harming rural voters, disabled voters, students, seniors, and working Americans with limited access to government offices. Third, the legislation weaponizes fear and enforcement. The SAVE Act imposes criminal penalties on election officials who process registrations without the required documentation—even when applicants are eligible voters. It also invites private lawsuits against local officials accused of insufficient enforcement. This creates a chilling effect in which election administrators are incentivized to reject valid registrations rather than risk prosecution or litigation. When officials are afraid to register voters, democracy suffers. Fourth, expanded versions of the SAVE Act envision aggressive voter roll purges and sweeping data collection. These proposals would require states to identify and remove alleged non-citizens from voter rolls using error-prone databases that have repeatedly led to eligible voters being wrongly removed. Voting rights organizations warn that Native American, Alaska Native, and rural voters—many of whom live far from document-issuing offices—would be especially burdened by new in-person documentation requirements. Although the Senate previously stopped the SAVE Act, Donald Trump and his allies are escalating pressure to revive it in a more extreme form. Some supporters have openly discussed attaching the bill to must-pass legislation, while others have suggested dismantling long-standing Senate rules in order to force it through. This is not democratic reform—it is an attempt to change the rules because they cannot win under the current ones. Voter suppression is not always loud. Often, it works through inconvenience, confusion, and quiet disqualification—ensuring voters only discover the problem when it is too late. I urge you to: 1. Publicly oppose the SAVE Act and any expanded version. 2. Refuse to allow voter suppression measures to be attached to must-pass legislation. 3. Hold hearings on the real-world disenfranchisement these proposals would cause. 4. Support policies that expand access to the ballot, rather than restrict it. Our democracy depends on participation, not paperwork traps.

Vote NO on Any Bill Funding ICE: Lives Depend on It
Text SIGN PKWEEE to 50409 — The time for half-measures has passed. I am writing to demand that you vote NO on any appropriations bill that funds Immigration and Customs Enforcement at current levels. ICE has demonstrated a pattern of wanton disregard for constitutional protections, systematic violation of civil rights, and lethal violence against people regardless of their citizenship status. The killing of Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis—an unarmed American citizen—is not an aberration. It is the inevitable result of an agency that operates with impunity, outside the bounds of law, and beyond meaningful oversight. This is not a partisan issue. This is about whether we accept a federal agency that treats the Fourth Amendment as optional, that conducts warrantless raids in our communities, that detains American citizens without due process, and that responds to lawful observation of its activities with deadly force. Every day that ICE operates unchecked, every dollar that flows to enforcement operations without binding accountability measures, makes our communities less safe—not more. Americans now face heightened danger. Opposition to ICE's tactics is the right position, but it will make individuals a target. We should expect increased ICE activity, directed by a federal administration that has shown it will punish states that refuse to comply with its agenda. Without meaningful constraints in this funding bill, people will be detained. People will be held in facilities with documented records of abuse. People may be killed. You have the power to prevent this. The appropriations process is Congress's most fundamental check on executive overreach. Use it. Do not accept cosmetic reforms like body cameras while leaving the underlying funding and operational authority intact. Do not allow ICE to receive another dollar for enforcement and removal operations until there are enforceable consequences for constitutional violations, independent oversight with real authority, and accountability for the violence already inflicted on our communities. I am watching this vote. Your constituents are watching this vote. History will record whether you stood against an agency that has become a threat to the very people it claims to protect—or whether you funded that threat with our tax dollars. Vote NO.

💬 Text SIGN PPWCBB to 50409
Impeach, Convict & Remove Trump, Now.
Text SIGN PPWCBB to 50409 — Bring Articles of Impeachment against Donald Trump & force a vote using Rule 9. There are at least 25 impeachable offenses to choose from, not the least of which is treason. Donald Trump is, by no means, the only guilty party but step 1. is getting him out and held to account and only after, or concurrently, the Cabinet and JD Vance as well. The fascist regime must be removed and Democracy restored. This is on you. It is your duty to uphold the Constitution and you have failed to do that every day that you have ensured this fascist traitor remains in Office by not calling for his removal. Bring the Articles and force a vote, every day under rule 9, until enough of Congress can gain the courage to remove the traitor-in-chief, or step down so others with more courage and integrity can get him out & save America. ALL of Trump's team and his VP are guilty, and all need to be ousted, but Trump will only nominate more soulless lying criminals as long as he is in office, so remove him first or all at the same time. It doesn't take so much effort nor time to do this. It is quicker than having to put out all the multiple daily fires he starts. Trump is as a cancer, intentionally creating havoc in all our systems. All this is a symptom of the disease. Get the cancer out. Lastly, you are as guilty as he is of this fascist state we are in and of all the harm done for having not done your part, thus far, to end it. The Founders, apparently, never considered that Congress would have become too corrupt and self-serving to uphold the Constitution. According to the US Constitution, all of those supporting, upholding or protecting a traitor are traitors themselves. You have the power to use your influence, your voice and your vote to save America. Do it. Impeach Convict Remove, Now. Call for justice every day until it comes. Bring the Articles, force a vote. Do it. Now.
