The last few days did not move the main story forward AT ALL. It's just a guy eating little treats and doing nothing. And so many plot holes. He says, "no more little treats," and then he's eating another little treat in literally the next scene.

Yesterday I won 800 'octopoints' on a "spin the wheel to win!" interaction that my energy provider app has for some reason. They grant me a discount off the bill. I will waffle a little here so that you can form expectations for the princely sum this represents. And now I'll tell you: one pound.

Yesterday @bootsmcgoot.bsky.social and I saw some techbro giving “30 pieces of advice for people under 30” over on Twitter and it was all grind culture bullshit. As adults of 38 and 43 respectively, we compiled 30 pieces of advice that people under 30 won’t have heard before:

Put this on Patreon for the interested (it is free to read even if you’re not a Patreon member, but I’d rather put it here than start a substack for obvious reasons)
Over on the cinematic universe Patreon, I've posted a few thoughts about my top 10 tracks of 2025 (along with playlist links, obv): www.patreon.com/posts/146790...

WAKE UP DEAD MAN is, on balance, my least favourite of the three Benoit Blanc movies but it’s still pretty good. I like that Johnson is imbuing this series with actual substance even if the substance doesn’t necessarily speak to me.

Anna and I went to Clash of the Comics (the comedians wrestling event) in September and watching the multi-injury fallout ripple through the UK comedy industry (eg Maisie having a back injury in the Taskmaster Special) has been incredible. Surely they can’t ever do that again.

i say this with nothing but love for all of you to whom this applies, but the moral rot in elite journalism is because journalism is a trade and it should be done by tradespeople and instead it's been professionalized in a way that makes it cozy to capital instead

Tbh it’s increasingly clear that there’s no need to actively boycott Amazon because it’s turned into such a flea market that I’d rather look anywhere else. Pre-orders don’t arrive, searches are full of GenAI crapware, results pages are covered in sponsored shit and sus all-caps brands like WSKEN

Pluribus rules because it’s forcing people who wanna see a bunch of sci fi lore dumps to instead watch amazing actors have incredibly interesting conversations about what it means to be a person

I've done another instalment of JAMES ACTUALLY READS HIS COMICS in which I read Comics Interview #102, discuss John Byrne's brief return to X-Men in the early 1990s, and drop some quick thoughts about GIANT SIZE CRIMINAL (good) and TALES FROM EROTECH (not so good) www.patreon.com/posts/james-...

If I had a pound for every time I heard a YouTuber say the phrase "to this day" I'd be able to buy YouTube and ban them from saying it. If you watch video essays and haven't noticed it, then I apologise for conferring that knowledge upon you.
