Trying to be a serious person, but probably thinking about X-Men and Star Trek.
Every now and again I have to take a break from my hobby of buying comics to actually read some. Ice Cream Man: The Mortal Coil Shuffle is a comic told as a deck of cards, imo, is a very good idea that has been executed very well. Worth picking up before its sole printing sells out!

Went into Rough Trade yesterday promising myself I wouldn’t buy another book and then this laser-targeted me for a *fiver*. It’s brilliant, obviously, but one must wonder if the system is working when I, your local Fleet Foxes enjoyer, didn’t notice it was out until it was discounted.

Finally, a product that allows me to avoid the feminising effects of *checks notes* bed sheets.

Didn’t spend loads at MCM today, but I DID get prints of both Noodle and Noriko, which if nothing else proves that they’re willing to cater for the rapidly aging nerd demographic. Back again tomorrow for more obv!

The only reason I know what it looks like is because of Lois & Clark

Went to the local Lego brick festival and someone had made custom Star Trek Brickheadz for Lower Decks, TNG and Voyager!

Had cause to visit on Twitter (latterly X) and it wasn’t long before I was reminded why I don’t go there voluntarily.

Just got out of seeing Elis and John (with Dave) at Hammersmith Apollo. I had such high hopes for that live show and it did not disappoint. The thrill of seeing Cymru Connection occur live will never leave me.

I love how this makes it sound like he’s somehow unleashed a great evil. This guy is honestly the gift that keeps on giving.

I was already reeling from seeing this alarm clock, which my brother owned, on display at the Royal Observatory Greenwich maybe an hour previously. Once your childhood gear starts turning up in museums you know it’s over.

Simultaneously thrilling and devastating to find one of the first computer games I ever owned on display at the Pirates exhibition at the National Maritime Museum. Rare to see the Plus 4 get the spotlight. #commodore #plus4

Deeply hilarious to me that the print is worn away on this picture of an iPhone at the Royal Observatory Greenwich. The people yearn for the menu button.

In the 1990s, Image Comics artists threw out the established rules of storytelling to create a new and exciting energy. A splash image, as a double page spread, sideways across the fold? No-one else would have dared. Probably with good reason given what it actually looks like once it’s printed.

My friend gave me his comics to sell and in there is a super-htf copy of the Phonogram fanzine. If any Gillen/Mckelvie fans don’t have one, this is your chance. Only a few hundred ever made, basically-impossible to find. Would love to see it in the hands of a fan.

Can’t believe John Byrne predicted the superhero movie face-off of July 2025 all the way back in 1988

The Taschen volumes are oversized - same size as the original art. They’re also printed to look more authentic - muted colours, newsprint-style paper rather than gloss. (Picture from Reddit)

I love how the Oxford Mail can find the Oxford angle on anything. They recently had a story about Boris Johnson that described him as “Oxford resident”.

Everyone’s mad at Thames Water for dumping shit in the river, but in fairness companies only do this when they’re extremely stressed.

Freezing Friday is a success! The aircon unit is installed above the suddenly-apt Adrian Tomine print. I will never be too warm to sleep again.

I’ve loved Micheal DeForge for years, ever since @hern.bsky.social recommended his series LOSE to me. His, HOLY LACRIMONY, latest is unsettling, humane, experimental and thought-provoking - but then, they always are. I’d say more but the less you know going in, the better.

I showed Anna the Red Sonja trailer on YouTube and I’m absolutely cackling at this suggested follow up video which is truly beyond any parody of Film YouTube video essayists

The absolute gall of using cyberpunk, of all genres, to deliver this kind of body-fascism just shows me how deeply the writer does not get it. This stuff is the tip of the iceberg.

Another in-person day in the office so that I can “collaborate” and “form stronger relationships” with my co-workers
