Fascism is happening in front of your eyes. You can call it that or not - I don't give a fuck - but that is what it is.

Fascinating breakdown of actual additional US tariffs taking into account exemptions and higher car tariffs etc.

It shows that even if treated as one, significant differences between EU members.

Oh, and that Ireland got a less worse effective hike than the UK (for now, until pharma is hit).

🧵 NEW: Is Britain really a high tax country?

Our collective tax bill is at its highest share of GDP since the 1940s

But actually, the tax and NI paid by the average worker are at their lowest in decades.

What’s going on?

Brexit, identified by the Nuffield Trust as a key reason for drug shortages unsurprisingly is something not shouted about by con artists who in 2016 missold Britain quitting the EU. More surprising is silence from a pro-European UK Labour Government.

And I see my usual EU-purist friends saying 'oh we can't trust the UK' and 'you want it all', to which the response is pretty blunt, if you can't see the importance of wider Europe at this moment then we will all be weaker as a result.
