I have three pieces in Reflections, a juried show starting next week at Norris Cultural Art Center in St. Charles, IL. The public artist reception is 2-4 pm on Sunday, January 25.
Today’s ArtDrop is an oil painted masterpiece of the high renaissance by Raphael. ’The Marriage of the Virgin' is dated 1504.

The painting is built upon strict architectural perspective with the vanishing point obviously targeted on the open door of the building.

Today’s ArtDrop is 'Meadowsweet' a color woodcut on ivory laid Japan paper, circa 1910 made in an edition of 100 by Frank Morley Fletcher.

This is an elegant oriental-style landscape woodcut.

Now, I'm binging 'Bookish' and loving it. Mark Gatiss has upped his wallpaper game in the sets of this series. The costumes are great too.

I binged Brideshead Revisited while on my sick bed. Classic. Obviously, I was just a little catholic school girl when it came out, so it was not playing on the family TV.

Today’s ArtDrop is a Romantic era oil on canvas portrait of ‘Mrs. Richard Brinsley Sheridan' by Thomas Gainsborough (1787).

The image is an example of 18th century romantic contagion chic. Mrs. Sheridan is seated taking the air in a wild and windy landscape.

I'm cautiously optimistic that I'm on the mend...for now. I have a lot of catching up to do. I'm not leaving the house for a few more days if I can avoid it. (coughing fit) ugh.

If you come down with that bad sore throat and cough, I have gotten so much more relief from an ice pack on my head and eyes than the tylenol, ibuprofen cycle.

Today’s ArtDrop is an oil on canvas by Chicago artist Frank Piatek. He was a professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago for decades.

The image shows one of his signature works featuring a totemic closeup of sensuous woven tubular modeled forms with soft, blurry, or glowing light.

With all the robots at CES, I felt like watching Making Mr. Right from 1987 with Ann Magneson, John Malkovich and a hilarious performance by Laurie Metcalf. It's on Tubi. I think it holds up.

Today’s ArtDrop is a sculpture, ’State of Being’, by Chiharu Shiota created out of a metal frame, dress, and thread from 2015.

The image shows a large box without walls or glass. The space within is defined by a dense web of black thread surrounding and obscuring a long white dress.

Today’s ArtDrop is a love poem woven into a carpet by poet Edward James circa 1930-34. The story goes that James was inspired when his beautiful ballerina wife ascended the spiral staircase after a bath leaving wet footprints up the stairs. He commissioned a new carpet immortalizing her steps.

To put this health communication disaster into a better light think of this "pyramid" as a triangle. If you do, it coincides nicely with the balanced diabetic diet of thirds.
Remember that time Republicans lost their effing minds about Michelle Obama wanting to get rid of the advertising of sugary drinks and junk foods on vending machines and around campuses?

Wonder if the sugar lobby notices sweets aren't even ON the food pyramid now.
