Yep. Yvette Cooper this is cruel, pathetic and totally unreasonable
Any politician who wants to ban migration for care homes should be forced to wait 9 hours for the toilet. I imagine pandering to anti-immigration groups would then feel as painful and illogical as it does to disabled and older people left without care workers. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...

Correct, correct, correct
What Labour should be doing is creating a new narrative about immigration - about welcoming people who make a contribution but reducing the numbers who don't.

Pretending to be super tough pisses off liberals and won't be believed by Reform voters.
May 11, 2025 at 4:43 PM
Exactly.

Farageian racist politics summed up in a few short words 👏
Trade, yes.
Allowing brown people in, no.
May 7, 2025 at 6:17 AM
Unfortunately, racism holds the key here. And Farage knows that he can stoke the fires of casual racism in middle England and win votes like wildfire as a result.

It’s incredibly dangerous rhetoric and Labour must call it out for what it is.
Ending double taxation of Indians here on temporary work visas just as we do for many other countries (including US, EU, etc) is "two-tier taxation".

Ignorance, racism, cynical opportunism, or all three?
May 7, 2025 at 6:16 AM
Not forgetting he attached his career to Trump. He will almost certainly end up in jail as a result.
JD Vance broke the National Championship trophy, then visited the Pope who died the next day, then visited India and a terrorist attack happened and war broke out, then endorsed his brother for mayor who lost 83-11%.

What’s next on the agenda?
May 7, 2025 at 6:13 AM
Because they make mistakes like winter fuel and Blair’s bizarre rant last week. Labour need to stop trying to govern like the Tories and start doing what we elected them to do.

The alternative of Reform-Tory is unthinkable.
Labour should be looking the hardest at that Green vote and wondering why on earth in circumstances like this they couldn’t win those voters over
Runcorn and Helsby parliamentary by-election, result:

REF: 38.3% (+20.2)
LAB: 38.3% (-14.7)
CON: 7.1% (-8.9)
GRN: 7.0% (+0.6)
LDEM: 2.9% (-2.2)

Reform GAIN from Labour.

Six vote majority.

Yes it will be. What a fucking shame.

Hahahahahahahaha 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
As the years go by, it does look more and more like the main long-term political consequence of Brexit will be to kill the Conservative Party.
May 2, 2025 at 7:06 AM
Now this surely would be some excellent news. Get it done!
Genuinely good news for both the UK and India, and arguably more upside (and *considerably* less downside) than any sort of "deal" with Trump.

The result in Canada gives much reason for optimism back here that a Tory/Reform coalition of misery CAN be defeated.

Labour must push this narrative day after day from now until the next election: a vote for Farage is a vote for Trump.
The thing is, Poilievre is actually a really good politician imo. Easily one of the best ‘New Right’ communicators.

But he made one absolutely fatal mistake: getting too close to Trump. Sucked in by the online energy for him among his base.

Many such cases!
God there were so many of these…

And we can assume, based on this clip, that Bessent doesn’t give a fuck at all about anything but himself.
Bessent on if he's concerned about empty shelves: "Not at present. We have some great retailers. I assume they preordered."

He is
FUNDSTRAT tonight:

“.. in the last few days, we have had many conversations with macro fund managers. .. A few have quietly wondered if the President might be insane.”

Fascism
JD Vance claims the Maryland father the Trump administration mistakenly deported to a slave prison in El Salvador wasn't "father of the year" bc he had "traffic violations," and says "we do not ask permission from far left Democrats before we deport illegal immigrants."

(He's talking about judges)

Every word of this is correct. If Keir Starmer isn’t going to bother to lead and level with the public that Brexit is crippling everything (apart from super rich) then he may as well give Farage a spare key to No. 10 already.
It's time for Starmer and Reeves to face the facts: our future lies with Europe and not Trump's USA.

Let's tear down the economic barriers that Brexit created, and work together towards rejoining the EU 🇬🇧🇪🇺

Awful, awful politics. As bad as the Tories. Reeves is supposed to be a Labour Chancellor?

TAX the rich, REJOIN the Single Market, STOP austerity!!!!!!
March 27, 2025 at 7:03 AM
And nor should it be. This is getting truly ridiculous, Rachel Reeves.
Labour MPs last night were in absolute horror. Many railing against Reeves’ fiscal rules. Can’t imagine it will be a happy cabinet.

She can do seriously better
He says he’s willing to move to Peru to be with her after she is deported.
March 22, 2025 at 5:26 PM
If we’re going to waste the next few years fearing a Tory/Reform coalition then nothing is going to get done. That coalition may be inevitable if we’re passive, like how Trump returned. History teaches. Do stuff for the now and not for the 2028
There are - of course - many cabinet ministers worrying about progressive voters. But a) the realistic choices in front of the government are very limited b) a Tory Reform coalition is the alternative. Polls show that is a huge motivator for centrist voters to coalesce on who can best beat them.

This is abhorrent, racist and damn right disgusting.
It's so bad, the way he talks makes me cringe so hard

Stop considering and just u-turn and admit you fucked up - simple
March 15, 2025 at 9:42 PM
This is excellent to see. More kudos required to Mr Starmer
Notable shift in German public attitude towards major partners. France stable as most trusted partner, and the US expectedly dropping sharply.

Looking at British-German relations note that after the Brexit years slump, the UK is back up there as a top trusted partner.

Class. Well played, Starmer.

From this point forward: Trump is on his way down. Didn’t take long.
Macron corrects Trump after he claims "Europe is loaning the money to Ukraine. They get their money back."
