DISASTROUS. This means they will send people to horrific situations with no due process — in direct violation of promises the Solicitor General made to the Court in previous cases.

This greenlights sending people to be enslaved in Libya or tortured in any random foreign country.
#BREAKING: Over a (sharp) public dissent from the three Democratic appointees, #SCOTUS clears the way for the Trump administration to remove migrants to third countries *without* giving them an additional opportunity to contest whether they face persecution or other forms of mistreatment there:

Just as we need to design roads to limit harm, we must legislate rules to stop the social harms caused by digital technology. @iyerland.bsky.social nails it: www.afterbabel.com/p/eight-poli...
Eight Policy Principles to Guide our Relationship with Digital Technology
Policies have enabled cars and airplanes to be used safely. No such policies exist for social media or AI. Progress is being made to fix this gap—beginning with protecting our kids.

ICE truly dedicated to stochastic terror
His student visa was suddenly revoked but he wasn’t notified—“they don’t want ICE to lose the advantage of surprise” (!!!)—and four days later he was arrested at the hospital where he works.
Indonesian man details surprise ICE arrest in Minnesota hospital
Critics condemn the “silent” nature of his arrest as part of an aggressive new trend in immigration enforcement.

It’s weird* that the president can just decide to put a huge tax on American businesses without congress even being a little bit involved.

this is why shipping migrants to third party countries is inherently a due process violation. it very literally removes them from the realm of legal process entirely.
The Trump administration claims the right to throw a man with legal status into a black hole Central American prison, affording him no due process, to admit afterward it was a mistake, and then to get snide with the judge who tells them to fix it.

If the government’s position is that being trafficked to El Salvador by Donald Trump and Stephen Miller amounts to a final and irreversible deprivation of all rights, then it seems to me every federal court has a duty to permanently enjoin the practice as soon as it possibly can.

My advice is if your law firm can't say this, get yourself a new law firm.

If you were a halfway decent human being and you knew an innocent man was rotting in foreign prison—likely suffering nightmarish conditions—because your administration screwed up and send him there, you’d do something about it immediately instead of shitposting lies all day.

Trump is already behaving like a dictator. This case is designed to silence anyone who challenges this administration. If Mahmoud Khalil is deported, that precedent will take the United States down a very dark and dangerous road.

This is dystopian. The govt does not even allege this woman played a major role in the pro-Palestine protests, like Khalil did. And yet they're trying to expel her to South Korea, where she hasn't lived since she was 7.

I don't see how anyone can defend this. It's un-American.
Unlike Mahmoud Khalil, she wasn’t even a leader or heavily involved in the protest movement! She just attended some of them.

So yeah, the US government is seeking to deport a person here on a green card since she was a child because she went to a protest. Joe McCarthy would be proud.
This is the latest person decreed by Marco Rubio to be a foreign policy threat and thus now subject to deportation:

When a government can send people to a hellish foreign jail without telling anyone who they are or what evidence they have - what stops them from taking you and me? There is no process or transparency. There isn’t even a list of all the people taken.
The Trump administration is insisting a man they sent to an El Salvador prison is in a Venezuelan gang even though he’s a youth soccer coach and pro goalie with no criminal record and the tattoo they said was a gang tattoo is a soccer team he likes. www.dropsitenews.com/p/venezuelan...
