I research the war-peace nexus, postwar cities (Beirut, Belfast, Mitrovica, Mostar, Nicosia), the socioeconomics of peace, and geocoded urban violence at Uppsala University.

I like mountains and tattoos.

In another astounding ruling, the Israeli supreme court orders the eviction of Beduin Palestinian Ras Jaraba village to make way for the expansion of the city of Dimona. 500 residents, whose ancestors have lived on the land since Ottoman time, will be expelled to establish a Jewish neighbourhood.

Whenever public opinion and international pressure becomes unignorable, offer a token concession that will diffuse momentum and act as a fig leaf, while maintaining the mass death and expulsion. It’s a playbook.
Israel said Friday that it will allow other countries to drop aid from the air into the Gaza Strip, where children have died of malnutrition and nearly one in three people is coping with food insecurity, according to the UN's World Food Program.
