My colleague sat down
and coughed
and coughed,
and when he finished coughing
he asked if I would
close my office window
as he felt a bit cold,
and I didn’t know
exactly how to tell him
that my window was open
because he was filling the air
with something worse than a cold.

I think we need to stop calling it empathy and go back to calling it decency. It isn't a favour you're doing someone else, it's you proving that you aren't a fucking ghoul

The big science accounts are talking about immune dysregulation due to COVID-19 now.

I. Told. You. So.

Infection does confer antibodies and T cells against C19… but it also takes a wrecking ball to the immune system as a whole.

Stop burning down your house. (Metaphorically.)

I got a lot of mileage out of a $4.95 rotisserie chicken: 4 quarts of broth used in a bunch of things from green goddess soup to soup w/couscous & chickpea, chicken pot pie, 1 chicken dinner, added to leftover jambalaya, w/remaining pot pie filling served over buttermilk biscuits a la sloppy joe.

Edibles I cooked today: Deep dish chicken pot pie (w/stuffing on top instead of a top crust), deep dish quiche w/bacon & swiss, and a pot of chicken soup I tricked out with large pearl couscous/fregula, chick peas & basil.

“a global insurance firm that analyzes mortality risk pegged the # of excess deaths at 2% above the pre-pandemic annual mortality rate…that’s 120K unanticipated dead people per year in North America.
