I think it's totally fine and healthy to take puppies and kittens away from their mother immediately after birth and give them up away to a new family.

Since 2016, Arizona’s Department of Child Safety has paid out $30 million in settlements, most for wrongful child removals.

These aren’t isolated incidents. They’re proof that the family policing system causes harm and then makes taxpayers pay for it.

the relation of parent to child is one of stewardship, not ownership. but #adoption is designed to confer legal parenthood through the issuing of false birth records, which give the adopters permanent ownership of the adoptee's identity. why can't adult adoptees legally emancipate themselves?

Understand that identity erasure is the bedrock of #adoption as we know it. It’s entirely independent of the distinction between “closed” and “open” adoptions. Virtually every adoption decree results in the adoptee receiving a *new birth certificate*, as if their very origins had been transformed.

#adoption is not an “experience” so much as it is a status. a second-class legal status.

to the extent that there is a common “adoption experience” i would call it a type of socially sanctioned gaslighting.

It's our duty to be absolute in our negativity when discussing systems whose sole purpose is to destroy families.

definitely not always, and same true for step-parents, and same true for bio-parents (I know), but don't discount the good adoptive parents there are (I know some). we don't want to be as absolute in our negativity as the other side is - do we?

Adoptees 🥚 when they introduce themselves invariably have to talk about their adoption situation and make it a polarized "good" or "bad" situation. But I refuse to comfort Kept, especially APs. If you're going to challenge me, then I'm going to talk statistics and you know, reality.
