1. You can't even get hot food on SNAP, much less use it for nails or "weave". It doesn't work like a credit card. Items that do not qualify do not ring up.

Interesting thing I've noticed about news coverage recently. When reporter4s want to talk about SNAP they look for Black people to interview but when it comes to the hurricane in Jamaica they look for white people who are "trapped" and not the people who are really affected.

It annoys me when people say “they’re on SNAP but their hair and nails are done and they’ve got tattoos”. It’s extremely normal to do your own hair and buy press on nails, and tattoos literally last forever. What do tattoos someone got 10 years ago have to do with them needing to eat now

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.
