I had such a great #shmoocon . I can't even begin to list all of the things that made it so great

I have been quiet on socials for a few years; partly to maintain my sanity & partly because I was afraid to put myself out there anymore.

After a great experience, I want to reconnect again.

So, hi!

🥬 Swap empty-calorie internet bitching with nutrient-dense phone banking close races

DEI never once helped me in my career but I can recall so many times an unqualified white guy got an opportunity he didn’t earn that I’ve lost count.
We have to over prove merit while they get rewarded based on potential & vibes.

this is cool and all but you know what would be extremely helpful for OSS teams? private issues within public repos. we often need to coordinate work that isn't ready for public view yet, and right now that involves taking the discussion to a separate repo

I am often asked: how do you get into conferences? What should I submit? How much detail? Can I do the same talk twice? How can I get feedback on a talk that I am working on?

I really don’t get Bluesky’s focus on videos. The platform doesn’t have a real algorithm, which is something most social media users want. People end up making do with the Discover feed, which doesn’t send posts to the right audiences. As a result, everyone gets flooded with annoying reply guys.
