Overlanding Northern America with breaks back home in NZ with my kids. Techie from way back.
Reminding me of when a man who’d tried to use me as a scapegoat for his mates white collar crimes uploaded his contacts to LinkedIn.

As if I'd want to “connect” 🤣
We're working on a writeup that I'm pretty excited about --

Importing your address book to find friends is common for social, but it's insecure to enumeration attacks and database leaks so we've historically refused to implement it. The team has a proposal now that we think solves those risks.

I'm very disappointed that the fam aren't amused by this. Future SIL has earned himself some points though. Smart lad.

On a Facebook thread about a Route 66 anniversary.
I was stirring but I genuinely didn't expect the complete blindness to ICE’s scale of operation.
NZ has not been exempt from the crackdown. A lesser impact, definitely, but we're staying away too.

Played with ChatGPT, Code Copilot & Gemini today to get a script (x2) to send messages from my laptop.

Took ages, generated code I could read but not write.

Ultimately I get to give a 🖕to the spammers that made NZ 🇳🇿 lock sms sending down.

Small biz can't justify spending thousands on shortcodes.

This is brilliant 🤦‍♀️

Is anyone using a shared shortcode to send sms messages in New Zealand 🇳🇿?

I'm looking for a provider for low-volume send-only messages.

This might just be kiwi humour but who approved this ad copy?

Or was the goal to be risque & I just took the bait?

This post has been living rent free in my head.

I wish the friend all the best, the calmest most laid-back baby, and a cleaner so that pile of books gets read.

My experience: I'm so grateful for audiobooks!

#libby
my best friend’s baby shower request was books instead of cards to build up a library and that’s one of the many reasons I love her.

I'm so grossed out by Rexona trying to boost their sales by telling girls and women that their WHOLE body is gross and needs deodorant.

In all my years of biking, running, hiking and working in crowded offices I've never encountered someone whose back, legs or forearms smell.

I have access through my local, NZ library and travel extensively using Libby everywhere I go!
begging for international access to libby! why is there no way onto that app for travellers :-(

Using the free trial of Nitro PDF Pro and what a disaster it is. I'm saving after every action and it's crashing after about 3 tasks. A simple job is taking me all day.

What other software is good?

“Fear is the tool of a tyrant”

I know this is a message for US residents but those of us on the outside will stay away.

Why roll the dice when we can spend our business and tourist dollars in countries that don't instil fear?

Just took a call from m a Reddit ad sales guy. What a breath of fresh air compared to the bully tactics of Google Ads!

If you need to be taught to love America maybe there's a problem?

Child refugees who flee their home country still love their country. Is Miller suggesting the USA is harder to love than a war-torn nation?
Stephen Miller: "Children will be taught to love America … As we close the Dept of Education and provide funding to states, we're going to make sure these funds are not being used to promote communist ideology."

Family dinner convo about house prices and economic direction in NEW ZEALAND 🇳🇿 ignoring the elephant in the room.
This is not a normal economic cycle - we have the collapse of the US economy to factor in.
Yes, that’s exactly what the EO says.

When you start a war not to free the people from tyranny but to make it easier to start a second war with their neighbour.
What’re we gonna do with Bagram? Like work out a lease with the taliban? Or is the idea just redo the war in Afghanistan but win this time somehow?

I don't follow this guy on insta and he's locked down his account but there's a high chance I follow one of the 22 people who liked this post - we have a common interest in a small country 🇳🇿.

They walk among us.

Listening to the husband try to buy insurance from Tower NZ was a real test of my patience. No, the truck doesn’t have turbo, yes we will be carrying goods.

One Ed Sheeran song on repeat every time he got put on hold.

In the end they declined us cover because the truck weighs too much 🤦‍♀️

Hell, I was just talking about it with my wife and after about 45 seconds I sounded absolutely INSANE

Kiddo2 had a role the first time the show came to Auckland. It was a great experience for all of us as well as being a brilliant show.
If you’re in Aucks, or close to Aucks, and love awesome stage productions, please go see Priscilla Queen of the Desert. My niece is one of the stars!! 🌟
