He was here now, and he needed to get out while there was still a building left to escape. As he dashed down the steps, he hopped back as a support beam tumbled down and knocked out the remaining steps. The gap was too large to vault even with a running start. Defeated, Ashe fell to his knees and waited for the inevitable. The fire drew closer, and the air grew thick with smoke. As he struggled to breathe, his vision gradually grew hazier with each inhale.

writing some Claudegrid for WIP Wednesday! I feel like this will end up being more of a doodle rather than any sort of finished sketch, but I do feel like this is a nickname for Ingrid that could really catch
“Sighing again, Ing-a-ling?” “Don’t call me that,” Ingrid said automatically, hurriedly sitting up straighter and affixing her features to a more neutral expression. Then, remembering that it was Claude she was talking to, she let her mouth drop back to a scowl. It would appear more natural. “My apologies,” Claude said. He didn’t sound apologetic at all. “Sighing again, Miss Galatea? What ever could that professor of yours have assigned you to make so upset? Did Faerghus finally lose an important enough battle that your history books couldn’t ignore it? “You’re one to talk,” Ingrid said. “I highly doubt Professor Manuela assigned you those books for class, Claude.” Claude grinned, leaning back in his chair. He had his feet on the library table between them. He patted the spine of the book he’d been flipping through, which Ingrid had never seen before in all her time combing the library shelves, and which she was fairly certain was from the restricted section. “You’re absolutely spot on as usual, Miss Galatea,” he said with a cheerful wink that Ingrid did not approve of at all. “I’m reading this for the love of reading, not under the threat of examination. Surely you consider that a virtue?”
