I suspect the concerns regarding younger audiences might be the reason for this reaction. But still, thanks again for your time!

In many fandom instances I've seen, even when a story depicts 'incest' as a tragedy, the author is still attacked by English-speaking users. They seem to equate depicting a taboo with endorsing it in reality.

Thanks for the explanation! It clarifies why some Western audiences dislike this content. However, my friends and I are mainly confused by the double standard between mainstream and fandom culture.

Isn't this guy's every single appearance costing me way too much??? 😫😫Seriously, I need Kurahana-sensei to give him a simpler armor design next time. 😭(Will there be a next time???)

Chinese(Simplified & Traditional content are basically the same): 这个任务,由我来。这样你就没意见了吧?
Original Japanese:俺が、その役割を引き受ける。 それならば文句はあるまい。
English:Allow me to take on the role. I trust that'll be satisfactory.

#Dimilix This dialogue is from Felix and Dedue's B-Support with Dimitri. I found the English version quite polite and lacking the intensity??🤔pls feel free to use a translate tool to taste different flavors of Felix from different languages.😉 Text attached below for copy & paste easily!

To be honest, I’m a big fan of how Azure Moon ends. The way it ties up the foreshadowing with that clever double meaning is impressive. However, similar to what you mentioned, I make a rule for myself to avoid discussing characters outside of the Blue Lions house for various considerations.

I’m so sorry to hear that. But honestly, Chinese reader backlash is usually aimed directly at the creators(even the authors.😅)From my view as a creator, having ppl complain is even a good sign. It's too competitive for us that just getting noticed is a huge challenge.

I totally agree with you. Thank you—at least now I know that not every Westerner insists that fictional relationships must always be "healthy," or believes that an author's creative preference reflects their personal morality.

That's an interesting point. But most popular Asian fanfics I read actually have very deep and complex narratives. However, the more nuanced a story is, the harder it is to translate and spread in the English-speaking world due to the language barrier.😢

Yes, I feel the logic of "you made me uncomfortable, so I must attack you or call for a boycott" is quite scary. Maybe in cases you mentioned, and for incest ships, these "taboo pairings" often lack a vocal support base, so many authors just treat them as a "forbidden zone" to avoid trouble.

That’s true. I can see a glimpse of this in the history of Lolita. 😅Even if a work is meant to critique a phenomenon, if readers fail to see that, they often assume that depiction equals endorsement.
