A little blue hippo made by an Egyptian artisan around 4,000 years ago! 🦛 ❤️

My photo shows a ‘roaring’ hippo statuette made of Egyptian blue faience, a ceramic material made of ground quartz. The hippo is seated with head at left, and turned to front. The hippo’s original tusks (top incisors and lower canine teeth are known as tusks), are missing, so it looks as if the hippo is smiling. The blue body is decorated in black with Nile river plants such as water weed and lotus flowers. This decoration depicts the hippo’s marsh habitat as well as having layers of symbolism associated with regeneration e.g. lotus flowers open with the sun in the morning and close at night symbolising rebirth. Height 7.5 cm, length 12.5 cm. On display Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek, Copenhagen.

She never had been one for half measures. “Go on, then.” She ticked off the class’s merits on her fingers. “The Blue Lions have one of the Academy's two best sword users, and all the good cavaliers, which I’m familiar with fighting alongside. There are two excellent cooks and a baker. And as a group, they are the least inclined to engage in frivolity or sarcasm.” “Well, we wouldn’t want any frivolity.” “Or sarcasm,” she said pointedly. “Lastly, Dimitri has pledged to personally assist me in any academic areas where I might be lacking.” Without meaning to, he winced at her last point. She narrowed her eyes and pounced on it just like an enemy’s wide-open flank. “You don’t like Dimitri.”

I won't be able to concentrate until I do.

Felix and Annette (Fire Emblem 3 Houses) in a "Medusa AU". It's a rendered sketch of the couple hugging and Felix is kissing Annette's neck. A ray of sunshine shines on them.
