The only way Trumpism is defeated for good is urbanization of red states.
Your politics run aground on the sheer fact that disabled people exist.

It doesn't matter what those politics are or how "vehemently" you hold your positions. The sheer existence of non-abled people breaks them up into bits.

"T-shirts have come down in price since 1960, thus capitalism is vindicated and leftist political identity is discredited."

And what has happened to health insurance costs in that time, hey?

What has happened to retirement security?

Leftism isn't built on clothes prices, not alone anyway.

What you'd want with this "gerrymandering arms race" is for there to come a stalemate and a "compromise" to lift the cap on House seats.

i probably sound like an asshole tonight but man i am fucking tired of pretending that democratic voters and urban people with all of the implications republicans have very much stopped pretending to dogwhistle about are not the heart of this country. it's us. it's always been us

So, down with Cheney, always.

Wonder if there's enough hagiography -- the mainstream
US media can't help itself -- to piss off Trump, though.

I'm beginning to sort of see why Ben Sisko thought this sport would help the wormhole aliens understand linear time.

This is literally my congresswoman, who I am two hops away from.
Off the top of my head, in terms of degrees of separation I managed to get from myself to *Jimi Hendrix* in "three hops," this is a WILD assertion to make

anyone with cash looking to help the cause—and I can't emphasize enough how badly you're needed right now—i'd seriously recommend funding @propertyofthepeople.org.

we desperately need people with a specific set of skills strictly focused on gathering inside knowledge of the admin's plans.

That the US has so much rural territory that is both so reactionary and so politically powerful is a strategic weakness.

We should talk about it like that.

The reason for most things in the US is white supremacy.

Americans can't identify class status accurately? Because of white supremacy.

White podbros want to "ironically" defend a white candidate for federal office who has a Nazi chest tattoo? Because of white supremacy.

I suppose I'm strange, but Trumpism actually seems internally coherent to me? Evil, obviously dangerous, and grotesque, but it isn't baffling.

Rich Christian white men control things and want the country to reflect that control, which they seek to maintain. Pretty straightforward?

After the Game That Went to the Morning, frankly, I forgot they had to do more of them.

The next day. Which is the same day. Today.

If I were running the DNC, there would be Democratic Party sponsored food relief banks across the country right now that specifically welcomed anyone regardless of party affiliation.

Along with the food, there could be voter registration and links to runforsomething.net

Wow.
More on Graham Platner as Actually Upper Class: he went to Hotchkiss. HOTCHKISS.

Platner's as "working class" as George W Bush, who also went to a prep school, then the National Guard, then bought a 'ranch'.

Platner could have been a fine candidate if he was truthful. But he is selling a fake. 1/

Inspired by a convo with a student the other day:

Can Trump be considered a capitalist at this point?

If someone is such a supporter of tariffs, and such capricious use of them too, can they be called "a capitalist"?
October 26, 2025 at 12:16 AM
The problem with the dismissiveness of "conservatism is just nostalgia for the simplicity of childhood" is that aspects of the past, and especially the pre-modern past, were indeed conceptually simpler!

The world before the atomic bomb was simpler! The Cold War was simpler than the Yugoslav wars!
October 25, 2025 at 2:32 PM
Like, is the idea of the Platner defenders that there really *isn't* any other left-populist potential Dem candidate in Maine?
October 25, 2025 at 1:32 AM
Thinking about "Americans can only handle political binaries", and how they simply aren't polled on *so many* questions, with default assumptions of all kinds floating in the air.

For instance: are tariffs "capitalist"? Is a political figure or party who really wants tariffs capitalist?

Listening in annoyance to the recent Ezra Klein interview with the scholar whose work argues, yet again, that Democrats haven't been nice enough to the rural, and if they don't start being nice, they'll be locked out of power forever, etc.

This country genuinely doesn't know what urbanism *is*.

A normal candidate would be in their 40s-mid 60s and not have a Nazi-associated tattoo.....

Why can't there be a normal candidate?
