Disabled bisexual woman. Democratic socialist, partisan Democrat. Historical fiction reviewer.

Original sin is a right-wing idea.
Couldn't *be* much more right-wing coded. A pardon, yeah, and the warm embrace of movement conservatism.

Despite the fact that there are uranium ore deposits in the country, nobody would buy the idea that Venezuela is building nuclear weapons, let alone on any threateningly accelerated schedule.
November 16, 2025 at 4:19 AM
And if you literally can't handle that...
November 15, 2025 at 9:37 PM
I'm not creating anything. I'm saying don't be an ableist hypocrite because (in the most charitable interpretation) you have not thought through your position.

I just want the same basic access to the built environment of this planet that abled people have. *You* have a utopian vision.
November 15, 2025 at 9:19 PM
I'm glad you recognize that within yourself, at least. I wonder, idly, whether you would be as comfy stating "guess I'm sexist" or "guess I'm racist" to the targets of sexism and racism.

I have not or will I ever change my mind. Bring on automated cars.
November 15, 2025 at 9:03 PM
Do you not see how that can read as patronizing?

Whether not *you* are comfortable paying for taking away our autonomy -- and even the prospect of autonomy -- you still "vehemently" believe in taking away our autonomy.
November 15, 2025 at 8:55 PM
Nope! Paratransit driven by an abled person is stigmatized and stigmatizing, and as a form of segregation pushes disabled people away from mainstream society, not towards it.
November 15, 2025 at 8:52 PM
And do you see that, in the US with its car culture, self-driving cars would make getting around possible for a visually-impaired person or someone with another disability who can't drive?

In part because they would be cheaper than Uber?
November 15, 2025 at 8:42 PM
So your answer to "are there disabled people who just shouldn't work in order to fulfill my vehemently held position" is "no".
November 15, 2025 at 7:39 PM
Do you just think there are certain types of disabled people, like me, who shouldn't work? Because if we couldn't work remotely, we couldn't work.

Do you propose these people "participate in society" in some other way than work? Do you propose some cultural change to make that acceptable?

Josh Barro is a conservative (which is the polite way of saying "reactionary"). He wants hierarchies to be quantified so they can be reinforced.

The rest of us can decide whether we want that or not.
November 15, 2025 at 7:26 PM
More than that, we also can't have a free society with an urban-cosmopolitan/reactionary-rural divide like this, and with a theocratic political movement that has amassed as much power as it has.

Being the unimpressive, annoying Alex P. Keaton he's always been?

Alt-text doesn't mention the sideburns 😏

"We don't need to teach kids knowledge," they said.

"It's a bunch of irrelevant stuff from dead people," they said.

"They can just google whatever they need to know," they said.

You require a high score on the most "American" English-language proficiency exam, but otherwise quietly lift most other caps on green cards.
November 14, 2025 at 1:50 PM
The list is barely literate, and therefore hard to follow for anyone who *is*.

But yes, the renowned linguistics academic Noam Chomsky.
November 14, 2025 at 1:23 PM
Hate ages you, yes, but also maybe as a reactionary he's actively trying to look like whatever Respectable White Patriarch of 20th Century America image he has in his head.

This child younger than me...
November 14, 2025 at 4:45 AM
So no chance he's forced out before 2029?
November 14, 2025 at 2:25 AM
Thank you for this.

Have they not laid the groundwork for theft of the midterms *because* they thought gerrymandering was a silver bullet? Or some other reason?
November 13, 2025 at 11:42 PM
A mini-Stephen Miller

And Miller is apparently a short man.
November 13, 2025 at 11:34 PM
At the least the idea should be .... entertained.
November 13, 2025 at 11:24 PM
Fair.
