Something that’s so striking in these emails is how…unimpressive Epstein is. He comes off as a pompous, sub-literate lech. Yes everyone is so mortifyingly solicitous of him! All fawning and flattery! Why?????

This has been a fair conclusion to draw for 10 years. At some point people are going to have to give up on the Democratic Party
imo a fair conclusion to draw about dem leadership's obstinance in the face of revolt from their voters is that they'd rather win an intra-party fight with their left wing & their own voters than maximize potential electoral gains in the midterms

pretty hard to justify working for the NYT at this point. for a while you could have a moral disagreement about working for the genocide-cheering paper of record, but it’s not even a venerable news organization at this point
You know, when I heard that all of our personal data had been hacked, I didn't expect the first major use of it to be the NYT trying to fuck over Zohran but maybe I'm naive www.nytimes.com/2025/07/03/n...

Sotomayor, joined by Jackson, dissented, calling their colleagues' actions in the case "indefensible." It was one of several alarming signs for the nation on the Third of July.

it would be soooooo sick if people could understand the difference between a bad thing happening and the government proving a criminal case beyond a reasonable doubt
His victims got on the stand and shared some of the most horrific stories and he was acquitted anyway.

This is why I get so angry when people blame victims for not speaking up or walking away. Why? Who will protect them, believe them, and guarantee proper justice?

A Signal message sent by a Mesa County sheriff's deputy to a group chat organized by the feds led to Caroline Dias Goncalves' arrest within minutes of this traffic stop. The department claims this was unintentional, but won't say what the message was or why the deputy sent it.
The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office said that it had shared information on Signal leading to an ICE arrest of a Utah college student, which unintentionally violated a state law prohibiting cooperation between local law enforcement and federal immigration authorities.

seems improbable that endorsing a mayoral candidate would be a career-ender and I do not believe AOC when she says she wouldn’t care about her career tanking lol
AOC during Zohran for Mayor rally: "There are people out there who say, 'If you go out and make this endorsement, your political career will be over.' And to that I say: I don't care. We will never get to a better place if everyone is just worried about themselves. If it's over, so be it."

not sure “we need to get the FBI back to entrapping lonely psychos on the internet” is the most compelling response to this
Get the sense that attack in Colorado was the work of a single individual and thus hard to prevent. But worth recalling how how many FBI have already been pulled off counterterrorism and other forms of crimes for immigrant round up duty.
