For me the emotional potency of the East Wing destruction is simple: it’s physical evidence of this nightmare that won’t be undone. An indelible scar. Perhaps one day we just turn it into a museum about how we almost lost the Republic.

If billionaires actually cared about climate change they would fund green banks in every state as well as a national green bank. It should be done by the federal government but this is easily the easiest thing for a billionaire to do to step in right now.

Has anything slowed the energy transition more than the interconnection queue? Not even interest rates have been so devastating to goal of moving quickly and fixing things. www.thebaltimorebanner.com/economy/clea...

People who have the means and acumen to own / drive BEVs but choose ICE cars anyways are sinners and deserve harsh judgement.

Related: Subaru drivers are the worst because 75% fall into this category.
"BEVs produce 73% less life-cycle greenhouse gas emissions than equivalent gasoline-powered counterpart – factoring in production of vehicle.
Using renewable electricity to charge a BEV, car’s life-cycle emissions fell 78 % lower than ICE vehicles."

EVs are already 73 pct cleaner than ICE vehicles, and getting cleaner faster than thought
Full battery EVs are 73 pct cleaner than internal combustion cars, and even more so when powered only with renewables. The benefits of hybrids are much lower.

Extremely easy prediction to make: JD Vance will quickly become persona non grata in Trump orbit. The broligarchs are being way too overt about wanting Trump out and JD in. Easy to get rid of your DOGEdaddy but not a VP. Will be so ugly.

This, but they are the same. A white South African doesn’t just go killing millions of people without dabbling in Nazi salutes first.

This part is not getting enough attention and it’s freaking me out.
Neguse was grilling Jim Jordan so hard this morning over language in the reconciliation bill to restrict federal judges' ability to enforce court penalties that Jordan had to consult with his lawyers

Finally, here’s the Potomac near Harper’s Ferry. The river is ANGRY. It’s raging toward DC to seek revenge against anyone who weakened NOAA, EPA, the Clean Water Act, or the Waters of the United States.

100% this
"Woke" -- changing norms through social pressure -- is not, contra the reactionary centrists, another form of tyranny. It's the *alternative* to tyranny. It's new norms winning through the marketplace of ideas. The alternative is what we see now: enforcing norms via the threat of state violence.

On Thursday my heat pump and hp water heater were installed.

On Friday I called my utility and asked to disconnect my gas service. Guess what happened next:

The representative *thanked and complemented me* for fully electrifying.

Many issues with utilities but BGE must be one of the best.

These two at the helm of the NIH is a crime against humanity.
They are taking away our vaccines.

Jay Bhattacharya is talking about eliminating mRNA vaccines.

Meanwhile, RFK Jr. has managed to ratfuck the Novavax approval process.
Bad news for the Novavax COVID vaccine: FDA wants Novavax "...to show its vaccine is effective w/ another randomized study after appointees under (HHS Sec. RFK Jr.) intervened in the approval process... The additional step goes beyond what other Covid-19 vaccine makers had to do to win approval..."🛟

Today at our highest court, America’s Taliban (so-called Conservatives) argued that because slavery is allowed in certain religions a parent should be able to opt out from school curricula that moralizes that “slavery is bad.” Truly abhorrent. #scotus

“Should be” he kept re-reading and muttering. “Should be.”
INCREDIBLE opinion by Wilkinson refusing to stay Judge Xinis's orders in the Abrego Garcia case, condemning DOJ's arguments as "shocking not only to judges, but to the intuitive sense of liberty that Americans far removed from courthouses still hold dear."
