If you were incapable of understanding exaggeration then you would have run out of here screaming on your very first day, and you would not have been the first.” Beatin’s finger trails from Sylvien’s chin and along his jaw, in a motion not unlike that which he uses to check the quality of a seam. “But behold, you remain, and with all your limbs intact.” It is a simple touch, but Sylvien feels as though he hums beneath it, a bow overstrung with moons of wishful anticipation. But for such a weapon to snap at the crucial moment would betray a flaw in construction; so he waits and bears the strain, as though to prove himself lumber well-chosen. “Indeed. And you have yet to convince me that you actually dislike events of this sort as much as your protests might suggest. For my part, they have become considerably more enjoyable in recent memory.” “Oh? And what has changed so drastically?” Lysander asks, glancing at him through his lashes. “I wonder,” Aymeric murmurs, before pulling him close enough to surreptitiously brush his lips against Lysander’s temple. And with him, Lysander finds he is soon focusing less on his feet, and less on the other dancers, and even when their conversation fades to silence, there is…something enjoyable, he can admit, to swaying in his arms like this, allowing the swells of the music to stir the intended emotions. Aymeric kisses him again once he relaxes; a stretch of propriety, in a strict sense, but a conciliatory indulgence, and one that will shock no one in present company. He grows comfortable enough that it is a surprise when Aymeric slows to a stop, and when there is a light touch at his shoulder, he momentarily feels quite sincerely betrayed to think that Aymeric would, after their conversation, pass him off to another partner—but he turns to see Hien, who, with a very slight bow, meets his eyes and asks, “Might I have the next dance?” “I thought you would never ask,” Lysander accuses. Hien tilts his head with a widening smile and holds out his hand, which Lysander readily accepts even while Aymeric’s grasp lingers at his waist. It is barely a heartbeat that he is caught between them, but he relishes in it regardless, a glimpse of truth behind their halfhearted charade. “I thought we were being subtle,” he says as Hien’s hand settles upon his back—quite naturally, though of course by now he has had plenty of practice. “Indeed. And is staring daggers at me across the room meant to classify as subtlety? Any observer will either suspect the truth…or worry that you intend to have me assassinated.” At a glance, the city is like a craggy mountain. Even if the illusion falls apart on closer inspection, Lysander has decided he likes it better for the resemblance. Stabbing towards the sky as though trying to imitate the peaks that circle it, Ishgard stands as a brazen taunt to its winged enemy, but from a distance, Lysander always thought it looked a little fragile, too, perched perilously amidst the rolling clouds. Now that he walks its streets, he cannot decide which impression deserves more credence. He witnessed the naked fear in the eyes of the Temple Knights when Vishap came within a hair’s breadth of incinerating the final ward on the Steps of Faith. He has seen that for each healthy knight patrolling Foundation, there is another injured and freezing in the Brume, and for every well-fed noble, a gaggle of hungry children. If the city is a mountain, it may be a hollow one, poised to crumble in on itself should the right disturbance shake its roots. Lysander is currently short on optimism; gazing up at the soaring masonry upon his first steps through the Gates of Judgement, he had done his best to etch the image in his mind, should he be watching those spires collapse ere long.

They've come such a long way from that first fateful meeting at Burgundy Falls. 🥹

It means so much to me to that there are others who've gotten invested in them (and sometimes wanting to shake them). Thank you for coming with me on this rarepair, and for loving these stubborn cats as much as I do.
Zhai'a gestures angrily at B'alith, who leans away from him with arms crossed and ears flat. B'alith's hair is short and he wears the Hall of the Novice robes, showing that he's younger and that this is from the very beginning of their relationship. B'alith and Zhai'a in the present day, sharing a joyful embrace in a similar clearing to the one where they first met. Both wear the Endwalker artifact sets for their respective jobs; B'alith's hair is unbraided and hangs loose down his back.

Celestaux took a deep breathe as he wound the bandages around his hand meticulously, making sure to not wrap them too tightly, but also just tight enough that the compression actually did its job, just as G'raha had instructed. His wounds themselves had long since healed, but the aches and pains of his nerves would likely forever remain; no magicks nor potions nor salves could fully heal the damage that had been done to them from the jagged crystal biting deep into his flesh. The beautifully crafted weapons that had been gifted to him from the people of the Crystarium, a parting gift to keep them in his memory – as if they'd ever stray – and not only had he been careless with handling them, but he'd left them behind at the edge of the universe, somewhere that he could never return to. He hoped Katliss would forgive him. With his bandages secure, Celestaux flexed his hands, checking his range of motion and ignoring the ever-present ache – he was finally starting to get used to it, to be able to ignore it. "Are you ready to begin?" Just as he had hoped, Lyna didn't look at him with any sadness or pity in her eyes. No, she looked at him as if he was any other soldier asking for training in the art of dance, regardless of the fact that she had already taught him years ago. It was why he knew he had to go to her to relearn how to fight, to relearn how to trust himself. With a heavy exhale, Celestaux stood up and saluted Lyna with a lopsided smile, earning an eyeroll in response. "I'm ready, Captain." "You're still not one of my recruits, Warrior," she huffed, but he could see the smile she was hiding and that was enough for him to let some of the tension ease from his shoulders.

One of B'alith's shoulders has never been quite right since it was broken in the final solo duty of 6.0. It aches in the mornings sometimes, and his range of motion is diminished on that side.

He's also starting to have some stiffness in his hands that he's being stubborn about addressing.

11/1/2025- "What is that for?" | "Let go.(!)(?)” - Fabric/Material (leather, silk, iron) against skin | A held out sound (singing/yelling/moaning/laughing etc) "Let go," B'gyle growled, the deep gutteral noise from within his throat serving as a warning to the chirugeon that seemed intent on pushing their luck. The loud moans of other wounded shoulders echoed throughout the medical chambers of Rhalgr's Reach — including B'gyle's own relatives — which was all the more reason the chirugeon should leave him be and focus on those who actually need it. "I've been ordered to inspect all those involved in the attack, which includes you, and I can't well inspect you for head injuries if you refuse to remove that covering," the chirugeon answered sharply, tugging on the bandanna again only to be met with another loud growl from B'gyle. The fabric was nothing more than a piece of cloth made into a makeshift head covering to replace the one B'gyle used to try and stop the bleeding from B'runi's stomach wound, but to remove it here where his third eye would be plainly visible would cause more strife and anguish than the wounded residents needed right now. Seeming to finally register that B'gyle had no intention of budging on the matter, the chirugeon released their grip on the scarf, instead moving to a nearby medical station and tossing a potion to B'gyle with a rather disatisfied expression. "What's this for…" he started to ask, only to catch a disgruntled frown that told him it was best just to drink it and not ask questions if he wanted his headscarf to stay on for now.
