Letting Go, Letting In by TalesOfTheFox Summary: The Warrior of Light is a terrible patient. His partners are deeply unimpressed by his inability to follow instructions. “B’alith.” A man's Gridanian-accented voice threaded itself into his awareness, tinged with an exasperated note that was all too familiar. “How did you get down here by yourself?” Reluctantly, he cracked an eye open to glance up at the pair of Miqo’te who’d come to collect him. G’raha and Zhai’a stood next to his bench, ears flat with annoyance and matched expressions of displeasure on their faces, and B’alith had a long moment of once again trying to wrap his head around the fact that both of his partners were in the same place at the same time because they had each had a key hand in saving his life.

It's more common that his partners interact with each other, with or without him there, just due to the way the relationship web is currently constructed.

Tumblr user nocryptographer: I talked with someone who works in book publishing, and they mentioned they get a lot of AI slop these days. I asked how they know what's human-written, and they said that there's one thing that will reveal AI slop without error, and that's the author not knowing their own creation. A real author can talk about their story for hours. They love to elaborate every character, every twist, every detail. Because those existed in their head long before they ever made it to the paper. They were loved before they were written. AI slop wasn't. It was just vomited into existence. Someone who generates their story with AI will never bond with their story the way real writers do. That's why they may not know what to say when they're asked why did the character do this, or even remember the scene in the first place. It's something they read, not something they wrote. And to a writer, those are not the same. There's a unique bond between the creator and the creation. If your writing doesn't come of you, you'll always lack that. I keep hearing soon we won't be able to tell. And perhaps, in a superficial sense, that's true. But there is a difference. It's not em dashes or repeated words. It's whether the story was made by someone who loves it and cares about it. If the writer's eyes light up when asked why did the character do that? and they start their very own Ted Talk about that specific scene... then it's real.

"Zhai'a, this is my niece B'rhasaa Moldva. Rhasaa, this is Zhai' a Nelhah, my betrothed." B'rhasaa ducked her head against B'alith's shoulder, suddenly shy in the face of a complete stranger. She peeked back at Zhai'a and squinted at him with the studious expression of a young child trying to work out how a new piece of information fit into her understanding of how the world worked. "Uncle Alith," she finally said, "I thought you liked boys." B'alith blinked at her, startled by what to him seemed like a complete non sequitur. "I am generally inclined towards men, yes. Why?" "But that's a girl's name!" Zhai'a's ears twitched, and several reactions passed over his face in rapid succession before he managed to settle on something more neutral again. B'alith, who had never been as good at masking his emotions, simply burst out laughing instead. "But it is!" B'rhasaa protested, her tail flicking indignantly against B'alith's arm in response to being laughed at by the grownups. "Zhai'a is a Keeper of the Moon, Rhasaa," B'alith tried to explain, still a little breathless with laughter. "Their names don't work like ours do." "To be fair to young B'rhasaa here, she is not entirely wrong," Zhai'a added. To B'rhasaa, he said, "Keeper men are named for their mothers. The -a at the end of my name means I am her firstborn son, but I have two older sisters as well."
