This is a horrendous theft of my intellectual property and @scalzi.com is will be hearing from my lawyer. The original Ghan cut of #nipplesofgrimdark will be released as a 6 hour black and white special on HBO max
Obviously The Nipples of Grimdark would be a tale set in the hostile yet alluring Grand Teton-like mountains of Kwee'Glan (which translated out of Kweeish means "The Grim, Dark Land"), where our young hero must travel to battle the hot yet evil Queen Mam, who inevitably admires his, uhhhh, spunk

For a long time, I couldn't help but define my success as a writer each year based off how much fiction I put into the world, and I think 2025 was the first year since 2015 where I published not a word of fiction.

BUT it was an amazing year for poetry and non-fiction for me, and i'm very grateful

All jokes aside and whatever you think of it, I’d pay good money to have an audiobook of babel where all the footnotes are read by Ron Howard, come on
It’s like if the Arrested Development narrator was the most humorless college activist of all time

"an internet witch hunt"

Every single named person in this article who spread ugly lies about the Brown shooting, even putting an innocent student in danger, is a Republican. One is even a top DOJ official.

This NYT headline makes it seem like it was an everybody problem. It was not.

fwiw, for me the whole discourse about AI "summarizing" materials comes from the idea that doing the Humanities is "easy" and books/ articles are simply information conveyance mechanisms, not the thing they are - knowledge creation machines with nuanced arguments

Truly, what is the point of doing this. Why are people choosing to be researchers if they won’t do research. Why would you ever cite a source you haven’t read. Just go do another job

hot take but if using an llm in the process of writing your novel three years ago disqualifies it from an award that just updated their policy, that is fine. you do not have a god-given right to be a nebula finalist.

Every writer who generates a slop image for their work is a class traitor.

"I can't afford a visual artist"

So your solution is stabbing artists in the back? Stealing from them?

Furthermore, slop-generated imagery suggests slop-generated writing. That's how you're presenting yourself.

America, you have spoken loud and clear: You do not like AI. But what if AI is the way to restart the world’s idea machine?
We’re running out of good ideas. AI might be how we find new ones.
What if the best use of AI is restarting the world’s idea machine?

Please don’t buy your books from amazon this holiday season. There are so many other places to buy books.

Hell, there are so many other places to buy EBOOKS even. You can get mine and others right from @wolsakandwynn.bsky.social so why bother with kindle
