Today I got on the two wastewater surveillance sites in Indiana to see what’s floating around before the holidays. Carmel and Bloomington. Looks like Norovirus is the prevalent bug. Flu and covid seems low right now.

My god, she had to go to jail to get the treatment she cried out for. This is so fucking sad.

The bastards will tax us instead (that’s exactly what tolls are). The mismanagement just pisses me off.

First year post-legalization in Ohio, let’s take a look at the numbers. Sales totals for first year: recreational brought in $700M; medical/recreational combined brought in $3B. 36% of these revenues goes to cities and townships.

Our governor’s bright idea: toll the interstates to get $2B per yr

I use this to see whats up. Military will sometimes turn off transponders.

This is a feed and when it comes up, at least for me, it always defaults to east coast. Just scroll and look for bottom of Lake Michigan, you’ll find IN.

I wish I had known about music therapy for stoke patients when mom had hers. It might have helped her cause she was always singing along with songs her entire life. I’m like that as well, always singing with the radio.

Thanks, I wanted to follow this guy and couldn’t remember his name.

The book suggested up thread by Dave was what this show was based on. I actually prefer to read first, then watch. I’ll catch differences easier. I didn’t look for it on library app yet, but the Chester Arthur book upthread they don’t have.

Have you come to raise the dead?
Have you come here to play Jesus
To the lepers in your head?

I’m going to get her book and the one on Chester Arthur. I want to see how it ends. As a country we repeat the same mistakes over and over and over. If only our current politicians weren’t so allergic to understanding history.

Lol, that sounds fun. There wasn’t AP anything in my high school, Mr Warbritton glossed over quite a bit. I continued to learn on my own. But I’ll tell you, it warmed my politically nerdy 💜 to play the game 270 with my 13 yo grandson. You run campaigns and fight for electoral votes. Sorta ncaa-esque

Oh snap, what I wouldn’t give for a little more of this (blurb from audiobook). I’m not as interested in his boss era, but it’s got me curious to see how it ends. Thank you!!

Fascinating to see the ‘hand of fate’ trajectory, maybe because I DID know how it would end but knew none of the particulars. The convention part fascinated me.It was plain he was the end of Lincoln Repub. Thanks for the book rec, I’m NOW interested in Chester Arthur, anything written abt him, lolol

I wrote a piece about another monument in Lakeview with an Indpls connection, the Haserot Angel. It was this monument I was looking for when I came across Garfields memorial by accident. What the widow says at the end of the series is true, but this series changes that.

This beautiful and haunting statue at Lakeview Cemetery in Cleveland, Ohio has an interesting connection to Indianapolis. The sculptor of the Haserot Angel is Herman Matzen. He was also the sculptor of the groups on the sides of the Indiana Soldiers and Sailors Monument.

Finished the miniseries on James Garfield last night, Death by Lightning,
on Netflix (very good). I never knew anything about him but once visited Lakeview Cem in Cleveland where he is buried. I was shocked at the size and grandeur of his memorial.

The lesson here is that sometimes you shouldnt go down rabbit holes. Sometimes you need to fill them in with dirt or stone or cement.

I am ignoring that lesson because I am a messy bitch who enjoys this kind of fucked up drama.

This was really intriguing and only mildly gross.
You are, what’s in your gut. Who knew the toxic waste pipeline that runs through that amusement park, you call your body, is dictating so much of your health? Well, we do now.
Waste not: how researchers harness pee and poo for science
It might seem gross, but these materials are treasure troves for research.
