She was forced out almost 8 months ago and her insurance will end after non-payment for 8 months. She also claimed that Agencies are refusing to respond to Dem Congresspeople who are normally able to be very helpful in these kinds of situations.

This doesn't even begin to account for the human toll. Talked to someone who was forced out, luckily able to retire. But, she claims her retirement paperwork is sitting in HR, OPM says it will take 5 YEARS to get through the backlog, and there is no mechanism to pay for her insurance.

There is simply no good governance reason to do this. I don't hear anyone putting pressure on AL to change their laws. If bad things happen as a result of DC budget cuts, the city will be blamed for their "poor decision making" and worse. Senator Scott is leading the effort in the Senate.

Aside from wreaking havoc with DC's budget, the bill will wreak havoc with this tax season and impose significant additional costs on District government. New processes will need to be developed, tax software updated, people who have already filed may need to refile.

Washington DC needs our help. Republicans, being Republicans, have passed a bill in the House along party lines requiring DC to change its income tax laws for 2025!!! The Senate needs a simple majority to pass it. The OBBB affected local tax laws too. DC and AL, among others, opted out.
