Upon setting it up, this tree has been described as thicc, girthy, and lots of other words not typically ascribed to Christmas trees. Now that it’s lit, we’re all mildly intimidated. She is all consuming. She is eternal.

I started this in 2017, but this forever paper is finally done! Eastern US forests are shifting to more mesic species and the climate is expected to get drier. The two combined indicate drought will have a bigger impact in the carbon budget in the future. 🧪🌳
