Every time you see that the government is trying to raise our military spending to 5% of GDP, think about the fact that our total elementary and secondary school spending is 3.9% of GDP.

It's shocking that one drop-in for sex workers has closed and another is under threat given our city's horrific history with a serial killer who stalked vulnerable women.

These spaces literally do save lives, please give this a read. #vanpoli

Some breaking news: in a special Vancouver Police Board meeting only announced over the weekend, the police board has requested a $50 million increase to their budget for 2026.

This comes as other departments across the city are trying to cut staff to ensure a property tax freeze for next year.

During a military-style raid on a building in Chicago’s South Shore, one resident heard a knock on his door.

It wasn’t the feds —  it was a mom and her 7-year-old daughter, pleading for help.

He let them hide in his unit for the next 3 days.

Ta-Nehasi Coates is doing a lot of things with this essay, but one of the most important is fearlessly using examples of anti-trans hate to describe Charlie Kirk's politics.

The contrast between his choices and those of other writers for major legacy outlets is revealing.
Charlie Kirk, Redeemed: A Political Class Finds Its Lost Cause
By ignoring the rhetoric and actions of the Turning Point USA founder, pundits and politicians are sanitizing his legacy.

These deaths were caused by every politician who's refused to build more social housing for the last 30 years and every politician who's responded to the fentanyl crisis by ignoring drug policies proven to reduce deaths and sticking with the failed, deadly war on drugs.
