Assistant Professor at Providence College studying the effects of impaired metabolic signaling in developmental cerebellar glia and neurons🐭🧠
🎉Thrilled to share that our second paper of the summer has just been published in PLOS ONE! 😃 Six Providence College students are co-authors on this study, where we investigated the role of the mTORC1 pathway in the development of microglia in a mouse model of NPC

Role of mTORC1 signaling in postnatal microglia activation preceding neurodegeneration in a mouse model for Niemann-Pick disease Type C
In Npc1 deficient mice, postnatal developmental alterations in cerebellar microglia and Purkinje cells (PCs) are followed by early-onset neurodegeneration. Even in the absence of PC loss, microglia in...

🎉 Exciting new findings from our lab at Providence College are published in Scientific Reports! We show how PTEN deficiency in Purkinje cells disrupts dendritic development and behavior. A huge thanks to Lindsay and our outstanding students for their contributions! www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Grateful for my enthusiastic and productive lab students at Providence College. This past academic year, we moved Science forward by working on 4 primary projects, presenting at conferences, participating in an outreach event, and submitting 2 manuscripts. Plus a bonus visit from Dr. Beth Stevens! ☺️

Today, Providence College's students Kathryn Ditrano '26, Siena Brazier '26, Reagan Dennett '26, and Carly Immerman '26, had the opportunity to talk to the public about our neuroscience research at the Pawtucket Brain Fair. It was a great experience and a lovely day! 😃🤩 @friarbiology.bsky.social

This is the thing:

People PAY for healthcare through health insurance. But health insurance companies are not in the business of providing healthcare. They are in the business of making money.

And they are making money with a trapped economy. It’s like shooting fish in a barrel for them.
All those record profits, every single year, by the Unitedhealth group are taken from people who paid for healthcare and didn't get it.

Scientists, academics, researchers: We’re excited to share that @altmetric.com is now tracking mentions of your research on Bluesky! 🧪
There are already many articles for which there is more attention on Bluesky than on other comparable micro-blogging sites, meaning the academic community and the general public have clearly adopted Bluesky as one of its core places to disseminate and discuss new research.

A Place of Joy.
